BARCODE 1,141
WASHINGTON TIMES (Washington, D.C.)- Exit polls: Pete Buttigieg most likely to beat Trump MANCHESTER, N.H. — Former South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg is seen as the best candidate to defeat President Trump, according to exit polls in New Hampshire’s first-in-the-nation primary. When asked who has the best chance against Mr. Trump, 27% of voters pointed to Mr. Buttigieg, compared to 21% who said Sen. Amy Klobuchar, and 19% who named Sen. Bernard Sanders of Vermont. One of the consistent themes of the 2020 Democratic nomination has been that voters from across the ideological spectrum are most concerned with making sure Mr. Trump doesn’t win a second term. Petie Estie 5,718
an exit poll of the NH primary is one of the worst ways to report this when we have actual nationwide polls that already answer this question on the regular. Smurfs from Mars? lol if u think we just need all the dems to vote to get the WH ur living under a rock. We need swing states and independents (none of which are polled in this study that wouldn't even get a D in intro-level PoliSci course at a 3rd rate college)

Actually in NH independents can vote in the primary so it's not just a bunch of Democrats. However the state doesn't reflect the multiracial voters of the rest of the U.S. in other words POC aren't represented well in that poll. Some states even allow Republicans to vote in the Democratic Party so long as they temporarily switch their party affiliation. Like that's probably one big reason Ohio has accurately decided every single election and they call Ohio the ultimate and most important swing state. You can literally switch your party last minute. Like...you can literally walk into a voting location, say, "I'm a Democrat", and then walk out and in minutes online re-register yourself as a Republican. You can obviously surmise the difference between asking democratic primary voters on their way out of the polls "who do you think has the best shot against trump" .... And an actual national poll asking all Americans "who would you vote for if it was Trump vs Pete" or Trump vs Bernie, etc. The latter is literally all that matters.
