Some pop songs these days can have anywhere from 5-100 stems to make them a whole song. An example of a stem is the drum track (electronic or made by recording the drummer beating live) the guitar track, the acapella, and the synth. Official remixers and record labels (and vice-versa) are usually the only people who ever get stems, but occasionally, stems will leak for the general public to listen to and enjoy. We here in the Gaga community dearly love it when stems leak because with clear high-quality stems, we can make beautiful and multi-layered remixes for everyone to enjoy (see: U-Go-Boy, Has4Fever Ricky, Mr. Jordan Howe (candy warhol) and others).
