The Fame Monster 4,423 Posted February 10, 2020 Share Posted February 10, 2020 After listening to “Stupid Love”, and seeing how some of you think she will release it as a single, I created my own theory on why the song got leaked and why Gaga will never release it as a single. Let's go back to the pre-ARTPOP era. Remember “Stache”? Gaga debuted her version of the Zedd song in 2012, probably just to try how the fans will react to this kind of music. Clearly, the song does not stand at the same level lyrically as the songs of the ARTPOP album, and that’s why it remained as it is today, just a demo (or experiment). But the same kind of sound can be heard in the album. Remember Gaga’s first recorded cover of Chic’s “I Want Your Love” in 2015? Maybe this kind of disco-sound could have been heard in the original LG5 concept? Only Gaga knows. Remember “The Cure” in 2017? This time the song was actually released, but just because Coachella and Joanne World Tour needed a more pop-sounded song. Other than that, the song gave Gaga also a chance to experiment with how the fans will react to the sound that can be heard in A Star Is Born album (Heal Me, Why Did You Do That?). After the “Stupid Love” leak, Gaga tweeted “Can y’all stop”. What did it mean? In my opinion, she was amused by the reaction and speculation of the fans. And so am I, because clearly, the song is just not good enough to be released (at all). But maybe, her upcoming project shares the same vibe, sound, direction as the song. Discuss. They were released by her or with her agreement so we can have little teasers to the sounds she was experimenting (or just released them as standalone tracks) but this is a leak. And the whole copyright removals combined with the Sailor Ma Ma Ma Moon shot... I think it’s a go.
