Sexual preference applies to genders. Call it what it is, racial preference.

:interestinga:it’s sexual/romantic preference bc dating is inherently driven by romantic feelings and sexual desires.........

Actually I know many POC who would call BS and say “color blindness” perpetuates racism but go off I guess.

Same. I don't know what that user is trying accomplish with his reaches and mental gymnastics. I guess white guilt is strong on that one.

First of all, please don't speak in the name of POC, you and @Ktaylor99

Second, if being aware of internalized racial biases and overcoming them is white guilt, then deal me in.

No, it's not like that.

First of all, racial preferences are NOT okay. To have racial preferences is to be a colorist, which is borderline discreet racism. The ultimate definition of "not being racist" is to be color blind, is to not differentiate/favor between people based on their race in any way.

Second, statistically speaking, if you live in diverse cities, and you're well in your thirties, you must've met dozens of amazing people of color over the span of 10-15 years. This notion that "oh well, all the people that I was interested in my life happened to be white" is a poor excuse for saying that you simply have a racial preference.

This is why mixing is at a very low level in the United States. Because many people are still internally racist. To be racism-free goes well beyond writing on twitter that you support black lives matter, it's about making a change in your own personal life too and be aware of any racial biases you may have in picking friends or dates.

I’m totally confused by your thought process. Because on one hand, you claim it’s unacceptable to have a racial preference when it comes to dating—a very leftist idea. Then on the other hand, you claim we all need to be color blind and not focus on race—a very right wing idea.

If we are going to be colorblind, then why would it even matter who she dates since skin tone wouldn’t even matter?

I just think it’s futile and nonsensical to even care about the race/ethnicity of who others date. Everyone can have a preference and there is nothing wrong with that. We’ve really become too invested in people’s personal lives, and at the end of the day we shouldn’t give a f**k about who Gaga is sleeping with, or who any others are sleeping with.

this is an example of when being “woke” just becomes hilariously deranged.

So many of these dudes (especially Taylor) were pussies that couldn't handle being with a successful woman and got jealous.

I said what I said.

Also, what if Gaga just so happens to be falling in love with white ****? Should she stop after one and say “time for some black *** to even things out”? Lol

It's the gold standard of equality. If you're judging by qualification, and you have a black applicant, white applicant and asian applicant, if the black applicant is the most qualified, then you pick the black applicant. If the asian applicant is the most qualified, then you pick the asian. If the white applicant is the most qualified, then you pick the white applicant.

i’m trying not to “LMAO” again but are you seriously trying to compare dating to choosing the best applicant for a job?

Attraction and romance is deeply rooted in the self. We seek out others who remind us of ourselves or the families we grew up with (e.g. I have dark hair and light eyes, as do almost all my partners; Gaga likes salt and pepper italian looking men, like her father). Having a “type” is not racism. In fact, Romantic Racism refers to purposefully dating someone outside of your own race to fulfill a certain fetish.

People cognitively process romantic attraction differently. Some people (like Gaga and myself and many others) subconsciously gravitate towards those who look like us. Others subconsciously gravitate towards those who act and think like us (allowing for deviation from a physical type).

In fact, trying to “diversify” you’re dating profile for the sake of “diversification” fits with the aforementioned definition of Romantic Racism.

Nope, both are practically the same thing.

You realize why society has discriminated against POC? Because society was never colorblind. Society always took into account race, and gave more powers and more privilege to white people, at least in the U.S.

If society was color blind since the older centuries, we wouldn't have had slaves. We wouldn't have second-class citizens based on the color of their skin.

I think France does a good job at color blindness. It even bans any racial statistics, so that those stupid statistics cannot be used by far right wingers for fear-mongering. It bans discrimination based on race and even the use of unfavorable racial terms in public speeches and such (like for example saying there are too many "middle easterns" in France and we must stop it). It aims to eliminate any negative stigma related to race. And we should learn from them.

That is a racial/ethnic preference. Accept it and stop beating around the bush. I know my standards are probably too progressive for you, but please feel free to lag behind along with the MAGA crowd and racist white people who keep trying to convince themselves that they are not racist.

I beg to differ. Silencing of free speech and ignoring important statistics are not progressive at all. But that’s a whole different category of discussion.

in regards to the topic at hand, we’re going to have to respectfully agree to disagree. I’ve made many points that many seem to agree with, and I’m not striving to make an issue out of a non-issue. If you’d like to live your life consciously selecting partners of all races, good on you. But it shouldn’t be your business who others want to date.
