Just because it's a culture, doesn't mean it's ok, kinda tiring to hear this excuse, It's also in the culture of Cannibals to eat human meat, doesn't make it ok, right?

Also most of the Chinese are not eating dogs meat, it's a very small percentage of their population that eats dogs meat, mostly in the South, in Guangdong and Guangxi, so the generalization is pretty annoying and it's a disgusting stereotype.. like I see people holding the leash of their dog so tightly when they walk close to an Asian person because they are afraid that the person would steal their dog and eat it

If there's a NEED to kill these animals, why don't you use a gas that will make them fall asleep? Because it's too expensive for your taste?

It’s not dog meat that matters. It’s where they are coming from. Dog are being stolen from other people’s pets. This is why people in countries that eat dog meat, always scare of that their dog is going to disappear one day. I keep my dog around me every time I could. And have to wake up early to walk them otherwise I may encounter dog thefts.

This was necessary for the prevention of another bird flu (mortality rate higher then 60%) which could have spread if they didnt kill these animals

I agree that there could be another way to do this but they still needed to be killed or many more people would have died.

These kind of things -killing animals bc of viruses- are normal. 

In Uruguay, Argentina and Brasil, there was a breakout of aphthous fever between 1999-2002. Only in Uruguay 30k cows and pigs were killed by Government order. Even tho, it doesn't affect human, you never know if the virus can mutate and jump.

Last year, we immunized 12 million cows.

What I'm saying is that it's a normal procedure.

Also, there are meds and vaccine for H5N1. There's been breakouts of this before.

Coronavirus is a new virus and we don't have immunization for it (yet).

you guys don't understand how dangerous is corona. It is more serious than you think Chinese government is doing all it's posible to avoid global pandemic. If they don't sacrifice these animals they may spread the sickness to other animals and then to us, it would be catastrophic.

 

However, i agree,  burying them while they still alive... that's so cruel and unnecessary.
