Winning awards for trying to do the right thing is a tad odd in my opinion Just imagine a guy saving a dog from drowning, and you have to give him the Nobel Saver Prize. Nobody should win an award for trying to do the right thing In an age where doing the wrong things is overwhelming easier and more immediately beneficial (even at the cost of major consequences later or to others), why shouldn't we praise those that do the right thing? Nobody should win an award for trying to do the right thing I mean, I think it's incredibly important to acknowledge people for their achievements. Malala won and it gave her an even larger platform. It's not like people are doing this to win the prize. Now, I'll say that the Peace prize is kind of the least prestigious of the Nobel awards, if the most well-known, for the reason you outlined, but I think if it does some good and raise awareness of some issues then what's the harm? Jose P 23,341
She’s done good things but she doesn’t deserve a Nobel Prize in the slightest, sorry. Seems like the Nobel Prize has turned into a popularity contest as well

Seems like the Nobel Prize has turned into a popularity contest as well Well there's also the idea that winning a Nobel Prize makes your efforts and ideas more valid to onlookers. Like when Obama won it, it might have had the unintended (or intended) consequence of making him look more like a peacekeeper than without it. Nobody should win an award for trying to do the right thing Wow this was a doozy. I disagreed, then I agreed, then I didn't again I think the award has limited merit BECAUSE someone like Obama, who committed war crimes and exacerbated drone strikes on brown children in the middle east can win the award. Thats war, not peace. It's not even war truly in the pursuit of peace. But I don't see it as being an issue of giving someone the award for just *Trying* I think trying in the face of the world telling you not to is an admirable thing It can't be our only move though. Greta is doing everything she physically can to try to prevent this - its not her fault people don't listen, its ours (well, corporations and government heads fault ) 私自身もこの世の中も誰もかれもが, どんなに華やかな人生でも, どんなに悲惨な人生でも, いつかは変貌し, 破壊され、消滅してしまう. すべてがもともとこの世に存在しない一瞬の幻想なのだから
Economy 53,230
What I love about Greta is that she actually practices what she preaches which is commendable Far too many ppl supposibly want more action to be taken against global warming but then will not budge on any tiny thing that is even a remote inconvinience for them. Change as long as it's everyone else doing the work As individuals we may not be able to change the electric grid or make anti pollution legislation. Some stuff is on the hands of governemnts and big companies to do that's out of our hands But there's little things we can all do that collectively make a difference and many ppl cant be bothered to use a reusable bag instead of plastic bags, or not leave their car idling when unnecessary Gretta doesn't just give speeches about supporting change that sounds good in the media. Her entire way if life shows she means what she says!
