Bt1 5,213
The Vernont senator has made exaggerated claims or statements that lacked context about Medicare for all, his antiwar record and his history bipartinship. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/02/01/us/politics/bernie-sanders-fact-check.html So if I wanted to exaggerate like some people do when it comes to Biden and others, I could say that Sanders is just another liar. Gov Hooka 8,008
Cool but lying about being involved in the Civil Rights Movement to win brownie points with black voters is a hundred times more reprehensible than anything in that article

He lost for those things. Should Bernie pay for his lies also, just to bring a little balance to the game?

Guest
It's funny how many in here think gaga and her team may read what we write in here. If that's true we know who she refers to with all the "be kind" movement!
Bebe 17,289
Wow “In 2018, the United States spent more on its military than the next eight countries combined — not quite 10, as Mr. Sanders said” “Mr. Sanders is correct that surveys show that a majority of Democratic voters support Medicare for all, but... other options to improve the health care system have polled better.” What bold faced unforgivable lies to the American public. I’ve only picked out a couple - but honestly you read through this article and any disputes are either minor or a reflection of the complexity of the issues he is discussing. There is a difference between getting some minor details wrong (His main points still hold strong whether or not the U.S spent as much as 8 or 10 countries) or taking the middle ground in certain arguments on costing (the article agrees that most experts state Medicare for all would be cheaper) and being disingenuous. This article doesn’t convince me that Bernie has ever been disingenuous on any of the stances he holds or policies he fights for.
derpmonster 22,412
Y'all there's a difference between lying about your pizza preference and lying about being an active fighter in a civil rights movement. Of course Bernie's case isn't about pizza. But it's far less egregious than Biden's. Every lie isn't equally bad. This isn't a hard concept. Guest
I can't believe it. And then a creep like Biden or republican or Lord knows Trump will become president and y'all will complain about it
Bt1 5,213
You people realise that when you defend Sanders lies, by saying that Biden ones are worst, you lost. First, there is a separate topic about Biden. Go and discuss there the specifics of that story, including who is reporting it in 2020 ( only far right and left publications). Secondly, there are other candidates than Biden and Bernie. Some have less lies than Bernie. By that logic, Bernie lies are worst. And yet, I dont see people here applaud Andrew Yang for being better than Bernie in this regard. Not looking for the perfect human anymore? Cool. Then renounce the hypocrisity when u discuss another candidates than Bernie.

LilyLark 10,213
Honestly, I like Bernie a lot even though I'm more of a Warren supporter...My choices are Warren, and then Bernie, and I'll vote blue even if neither wins the nom but I won't be particularly thrilled. But yeah, I get annoyed at his hypocrisy and the people who follow him and act like his record's completely perfect. The man voted five times against the Brady Bill, voted to allow people to carry guns on Amtrak, voted for the Charleston loophole (which bothers me a lot), voted so that people can't sue gun manufacturers, voted for the Crime Bill, was on Lou Dobbs not even a decade ago echoing some pretty dumb anti-immigration rhetoric and voted against a bill that makes it easier for immigrants, voted to give money to those psycho minute men, etc. And to be fair, he has become excellent on immigration issues..people change. I just wish some of his supporters would realize the irony in them bashing Warren for changing her positions from 30 years ago, when he has done the same thing. Anyway, it's not healthy to put politicians on a pedestal. All politicians have done f*cked up things—even Jimmy Carter, whose relationship with Suharto arguably caused more damage than our buddying up with MBS and his murderous coalition in Yemen.
