I get that removing carbon will help stave off global warming , and save money that way too .. but a net zero outcome won't be attractive … 

My guess is that for these to be economically viable (even with falling costs) CO2 concentrations need to be kinda high so...

 

Even assuming they become very economically viable, the private sector would never build enough of them to neutralize enough to stop global warming...

 

And it wouldn't make sense for Government to take over either and keep building something that generates a loss if there's other viable things it can invest in to help

 

So I see this more like a side bonus piece of good news. It has potential to offset a portion of emissions if this technology takes off and that's a good thing

 

But on its own it's just 1 piece of a much larger picture, this certainly is not some holy grail that's gonna fix global warming

 

You have: wind, solar, hydro, nuclear, geothermal energy, electric cars and whatever else can help right climate change... This is just one more option on the table to maybe contribute potentially...

 

And I only see them being active for as long as CO2 concentrations stay above a certain threshold
