LIKELY: No Witnesses in Senate Impeachment

POP2

Susan Collins will be voting for witnesses in the trial but Lamar Alexander (a key vote) will vote against them.

Trump has been impeached in the House but will most likely be acquitted tomorrow or next week in the senate.

Good.

Wrap it up so that Bernie can go back to campaigning. We know that Trump won't be removed. It's a waste of time and it's giving Joe Biden an advantage.

Impeachment doesn't have the same weight when you have an outsider/non politician as President.

"We know that Republicans have been corrupted and will not vote for Trump to be removed. Therefore, it is good to wrap it up and set the precedent that a POTUS can do whatever they want so long as they are trying to get reelected. Thank god we can quickly set this precedent and get on with our lives so Bernie can go back to campaigning. We can't let Joe Biden win!"

You sound ignorant, honey. Bernie campaigning, while I agree it's important, is totally inconsequential in the context of our constitutional fabric being shredded and burned permanently. We are handing over our republic and nobody seems to be understanding the severity of the moment.

Republicans are killing any shred of life this democracy had. Shameful.

How long after the acquittal will it be until Trump calls Putin and asks for dirt on Bernie? The day after Mueller testified and Trump deemed himself 'in the clear', he called up Zelensky to formally enact the Ukraine scheme... My guess is that Trump's phone call with Putin will happen in the next week.

Other candidates with far more to lose if they don't have a strong showing in Iowa, like Warren and Klobuchar, were also at the trial all week.

On Biden, I do not think this was advantageous for him. Having his family's name brought up constantly in connection with Ukraine's corrupt government for the past several weeks has likely damaged his public image right as people are starting to solidify who they're going to vote for. If I'm the Biden campaign, I'm just as happy as Sanders' is that this whole impeachment process will soon be behind us.

Ugh.

Why is he from my state.

I'm gonna throw a tomato at him next time he's in town.

Mister G

At this point the Democrats may as well move on and focus on taking back the Senate this Fall and getting someone in there that’s not the orange one. Actions are all that matter at this point.

A candidate winning in Iowa is a lot less important than uncovering that a sitting President withheld money to a foreign government in exchange for dirt on a political opponent.

I hope Bernie wins Iowa but I’m tired of his supporters arguing that he shouldn’t have to be at the trial or wanting it to be over for the sake of his campaign. He has to fulfill his constitutional duties in Washington before he runs for President. He is a Senator first and he vowed to uphold the Constitution.

What Trump did was despicable and I’m very disappointed that there will be no witnesses.

Gov Hooka

I thought Mitt Romney would vote for witnesses, and what about Murkowski? they all are spineless fools regardless.
