Why did Miss Wig not release ARUTW?

Why did Miss Wig AKA GaGa not release ARUTW as a proper single WW knowing that after Shallow smashed we would not have new music for AGES. :excuseu: She could have pushed ARUTW and she would have still had a big gap after it finishes its chart run to build hype for LG6. Ugh I'm still not over this CRIME against humanity :messga: ARUTW deserved better :grr:

Because it’s a soundtrack not a studio album and was clearly only meant to only have one wide single: Shallow

It truly would have. I will never get over this crime :bradley: I think I will buy a greet and meet ticket to Enigma just to ask Gaga this question :bradley: I need answers :bradley: It's like after a breakup you have a burning desire to know WHYYY...well I have that desire but for ARUTW :bradley:

edit: @TEANUS Don't even try it sis! :grr:  Tons of soudntrack albums release more than 1 single. TONS :cryga:

I could understand this perspective if it applied only to the era before the film's success and worldwide appeal and if Gaga had only written/sung a handful of tracks for the project.

But, even if it is a soundtrack, the amount of music is equal to that of any studio album -- why would Gaga, at a time when she was struggling to break into the top 10 of the U.S. charts, spend all of that time creating music for a project that she wasn't going to promote heavily? It doesn't make sense that she would write and perform songs like Shallow, INLA, ARUTW, ITA, and even Heal Me, Before I Cry, etc. and release them to a limited audience rather than keep many of them for her next project(s). And, following the success of the film and popularity of the soundtrack, it makes even less sense to sit on such acclaimed music when she hadn't broke into the top 3 chart-wise since 2011.

The decision to end ASIB's era musically after Shallow is definitely one of the top 3 most bizarre moves of Gaga's career (by her choice or Interscope) -- along with releasing Edge of Glory as a promo single vs. a full release + submitting Judas/You and I for 2012 Grammys instead of EOG/BTW; even with Shallow hitting #5, the momentum in the fall of 2018 justified releasing more music as it was clear even then that the GP was connecting with the soundtrack in a way they hadn't with anything from ARTPOP or Joanne.

Not knowing what would come in Spring 2019, this was a chance to reignite her career - so, why not? When Shallow hit #1, though, the choice makes even less sense as the soundtrack had earned 4 Grammy nominations + 2 wins, an Oscar, and a #1 hit single, and was the best-selling album of the year at the time with massive critical acclaim.

With just 1 official, fully promo'd U.S. single, ASIB was seen as 'snubbed' from AOTY, received Grammy wins for the soundtrack, 2 of its songs, and nominations for a 3rd. Pushing ARUTW in March would have likely gotten her an easy AOTY award, second top 3 single, and 2-3 additional Grammy nominations at worst.

thank you :tony: I will never not be baffled at the idea of Gaga cutting the ASIB era with just one single when ARUTW was hanging on and screaming to be released and becoming a top 10 smash everywhere :bradley:

Let’s limit your success with some imaginary constraints. Yay.

Okay well everyone can talk about how these constraints aren’t real or that they were stupid in following them but clearly Gaga isn’t everyone else, she likes to let things speak for themselves rather than pushing promo and additional singles and the only reason for why they didn’t do it is because clearly they didn’t think it needed (which it didn’t) a full era
