PoshLife 17,019 Posted January 30, 2020 Share Posted January 30, 2020 It's pretty clear to me that even if there are a few Republican defections on the vote to block witnesses (I could see Romney voting to allow witnesses, for example), there's no way this trial goes beyond next week. I was told this morning that the earliest the Senate can finish the trial is this Saturday - they would vote to block witnesses on Friday evening, then vote to acquit on Saturday morning. I think that's probably the most likely scenario. And frankly, that's fine with me, because we already know Senate Republicans are cowards - every last one of them, but especially Gardner and Collins - who will hug the president no matter what crimes he commits. So the sooner this sham of a trial is over, the sooner the Democratic Party can go back to talking about economic opportunity, lowering healthcare costs, and the other things people actually want Congress to do. We need to spend the next nine months making our case to the American people for why Trump needs to be voted out of office. Eighteen 5,430 Posted January 30, 2020 Share Posted January 30, 2020 i knew he would be exonerated when the conservative argument that "if there was a quid pro quo that would be disturbing" disappeared when it became apparent that there was a quid pro quo lol. the good news is that i think a lot of the american people are dug in too. so when trump goes on tour for the next 8 or 9 months saying he was exonerated once again, idk how many minds that will change. hopefully not enough to give him a win Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

All this will do is get his based riled up and crazier than they already are, and the Democrats are going to have to get their act together over the next 9 months demonstrating they take action. Pandering to voters about “why they’re not Trump” won’t work anymore. If we’re lucky, these Senators that hug Trump no matter what he does will get voted out in November.
