I don't think Global warming is gonna kill everyone anytime soon I think that's being a little dramatic.

Earth has been way warmer in the past than it is now. The transitions are wild and cause a lot of changes and we are making it more dramatic and need to stop but to say we're all dead I think is dramatizing it

U think it's bad now? Our sun is supposed to gradually get brighter and hotter long term. We're gonna get cooked like Venus :messga:

Oh im just sharing my conspiracy theory as a joke. While I agree with you, alot of people are still going to die in a couple of decades, and mass immigration is going to happen. I dont think things will ever be the same once it happens.

All cases of coronavirus were traced back to a from a food shop in Wuhan so it can't be global warming-related. It could've been plausible if it happened in Siberia or a place affected by ice melting but it was Wuhan so it's out of the question.

Yeah but... Viruses aren't born in a shop... It may have been traced there where the outbreak started but it had to be somewhere in nature before it made it to a shop...

Who knows what it's history was before that

Not that I'm saying a glacier is where it came from. I myself think that's a very unlikely explanation

It's because of a mutation, yes and that could've happen even in the shop since I believe it sold live animals. Or if not it happened somewhere close either way.

It's very unlikely the virus was born let's say in a city 50 or kms and didn't infected anyone, made it to the shop and started spreading so much only there. The virus is highly contagious and if all cases can be traced back to the shop, I really doubt it originates from somewhere far away.

The closest glaciar to Wuhan must be at thousands of kms distance..

I agree

I'm more refering to comments that insinuate that the entire human species as a whole will go extinct because of global warming...

This is not me downplaying global warming and all the bad stuff that's coming from it and will come...

But it's still possible to take a real terrible situation and still embellish it and dramatize it :selena:

Humans are among the most adaptable species on earth. We live in every climate and continent on earth (even Antarctica has a base)... We can survive all kinds of extremes... And technology and science makes us even more resilient than ever

By the time humans went extinct the vast majority of earths species would already have tbh... I think only bacteria and some simple bugs and plants would outlast us tbh

Only an ecological collapse of absolutely gigantic proportions would kill us because of climate change I think...

In terms of outright extinction as a species I mean

Yes I actually agree with you, I see alot who even refuse to have children because of global warming and people like AOC being too dramatic about it in a very ineffective way

That doesn't mean I don't think it's serious cuz I can already see a lot of ppl interpreting it that way as ppl always do :air:

Natural disasters, food and water shortages, flooded shorelines, stronger storms etc will be on the rise... And yes some extinctions too

I don't wanna sound like I'm shrugging off those realities cuz that wasn't my point

https://www.theweathernetwork.com/ca/news/article/dozens-of-previously-unknown-viruses-discovered-in-15-000-year-old-glaciers

Melting glaciers has more threats than just the commonly talked about issue of rising sea levels...

One known issue is that ancient viruses and bacteria no longer around are actually not entirely extinct and often are trapped and dormant in ice

This 15,000 year old glacier melting in Central Asia has been identified to have at least 30 viruses or bacteria previously unknown to science

While researchers and scientists stress that most bacteria and viruses are usually relatively harmless and there is no need to go full on panic mode and that serious threats are a worse case scenario, there is always the risk that some dangerous ones we have no immunity to could make their way back into nature

30 virusi'  (or whatever the plural is) seems bad...

Maybe we should nuke the melting Glaciers.

like a cat in a sil, I observe life, moving and still. My words give a clue, look inside to see whats true
