Just because her material does not line up with your particular tastes or standards, does not blatantly disregard the amount of work that she puts in. Sure you may not think that her art is "highly complex, coherent and cohesive", but it is art nonetheless. I'm not saying that you can't dislike her work as that would be legitimately absurd and narrow-minded oof, but she is evidently an artist by definition. So I doubt she is the biggest popstar as you said. Moreover she has not a lot of success outside of the US. She made a good album and i would more compare her to Lana Del Rey who is a super talented girl but not one of the A list popstar that Gaga, Beyonce, Adele or Rihanna is.
