She clearly enjoys releasing music which sounds like it's almost spontaneously recorded in a studio. I'm pretty sure it's an artistic decision. Because when you listen to, for example, her The Fame tracks now, it's just shocking how clean, polished and musically focused they sound. You can just hear very clearly that every single vocal take was repeated over and over again until it sounded perfect. I'm sure she re-records her vocal takes too now, but with a different intention: to sound "real" and "raw" and not longer to sound pleasing on the ear necessarily. Just my take. I agree although I would say a lot of BTW sounds like that too but knowing it was made while on tour I always liked that spontaneous vibe to some of the recordings. ARTPOP has nice multilayered vocals though which is something I prefer, like the amount she sang in Venus I can't see her currently doing that again
BabylonHooker 4,305
I'm very good at distinguishing which song is a demo, and I bet this is just a demo, like a polished demo but definitely not the final version, that's why it sounds really off the entire song. From the volumes of her vocal and the instrumental, the transition between parts, the non-existing chorus, the sound effects, the emptiness of the bridge, the intro, the outro. The song ain't it. People go crazy just because it's the first dance pop song they hear from Gaga since ARTPOP. GAGA IS MY LIFELINE
Killa 17,478
Your question is a bit vague and the answers in the thread also vary cause of that. Id say the recording is not bad, besides that i waaant your stupid love in the bridge that is very flat. For example diamond heart has big problems. She isnt completely on time and not in a swinggy good way. And theres other songs since joanne when shes slighty behind, cause the consonants have to proceed the beat and on the beat os the vowel. Ex. Prechorus. All i ever wanted Was loveee. She sings the consonants as hard cons. Cause you close mouth for vv you arrive slightly late. What you might feel is that theres disconection between the beat and vocal line. The synth isnt completely equilibrated, theres some mixin issues aling way. Then also the bridge is bit problematic. Tbh is again hard consonants an consequent pitch. Stupid love - consonant d+l need be short. Usually in studio this things are cut and pasted with many takes and constructed and some pitchs are changed manually or via software. The other aspect besides mix is the reverb and effects to feel unity in sounds and sort of being embrassed. A good record the voice seems to flow well and its floating on the beat. A good job recent years was def elton cover

I see your opinion but I doubt as nitpicky as this fan base is that they only like it because it's Dance pop....
