He actually had a trans in his podcast. I dont understand what people are complaining about

It’s more about the ideology. Blaire White is trans, but sorta socially conservative in a way that upsets most of the leftist trans community (again children transitioning and stuff). People who say “have a ___” should stop saying that bc it assumes that community might be one toned in opinion and it’s just not true :P

Turn this around. U had problems with Biden and Pete saying something unclear 10 years ago, but u dont have problem with this?

Who is the hypocrite now?:ladyhaha:

That's what it comes down to for Bernie Bros; as long as you like Bernie, everything else is forgivable. But if you don't like him, then you're the enemy no matter what. We're even hearing queer people say they like Joe Rogan now, literally just because of this endorsement. It's right here in this thread.

Trump once said he could shoot a gun on Fifth Avenue and all of his supporters would still love him. I wonder what Bernie could get away with.

It's funny getting lectures about "nuance" and "unity" from people who have previously never expressed an interest in either. (Horus literally stole my point about nuance from a previous political thread, but I'll let it slide because I know this stuff is hard.) I'll recall the 12% of Bernie Bros who voted for the more conservative (and bigoted and racist and sexist and xenophobic) candidate in 2016 out of spite. That's excluding all of them who voted for third-party candidates who weren't even viable. Yay, unity?

One final moment of hypocrisy: they criticized Biden for going on The View because they just "parrot his talking points." But then they also laugh at him for trying to get on Joe Rogan's podcast despite the fact that Rogan decidedly does not parrot him. It's amazing how some people can just never win.

I don't mind all the LMAO reactions because they expose the hivemind that has completely taken over the  Far Left - but social media trolling doesn't earn votes.

I think it is more that marginalized communities are tired of being used and forgotten in presidential politics. The issue here isn't the endorsement, it's the use of the endorsement by the Sanders campaign as it really disregards all the harm Rogan and his platform does for the trans community. There is this pretty safe gray area where he can let Rogan's endorsement speak for itself, if he's truly one of the :most influential men in America".

It’s a presidential race.

and I KNOW the actual candidate I stand behind isn’t a transphobe. So I’m sleep.

Endorsing someone =\= endorsing every stance they take. It’s never that simple.

Honestly, are you guys paid surrogates? Y’all never made any sense and are constantly contradicting yourselves.

You want to beat Trump? You want someone who will unify the country? You have to gain the support of people you don’t agree with.

Joe’s reasoning makes perfect sense. He may not agree with everything Bernie stands for, but he trusts him. BOTTOM LINE.

I don't like Joe Rogan but his endorsement is amazing for Bernie's chances to win, also shows how his message resonates with people other than "jobless sjw kids who know nothing" or w/e

We have to lessen the divide somehow.

Also, I'm watching this thread for hypocrisy, because I've had many conversations about gender identity and queer theory on this website with some of y'all and lots of people here have views that I would say are certainly problematic as well :emma:

And I oop

I have to puke at how socially regressive he is, (he apparently yelled to a trans woman that she’s a man 🤨), and I have to frown that he’s apparently the most influential voice in America,

but his endorsement is huge. He reasoning is great. And cancels the narrative that he’s divisive and unelectable

Id like to see evidence of that, I watch his podcast everyday and never see him do that. But he does have an issue with trans women fighting other women in sports.

Was just pointing out that you can receive an endorsement from someone influential and not have to necessarily promote it. Had his team done that, I don't think there'd be outrage from some on the left and he'd still get the attention of Rogan's base. Ie. If Rogan is that influential, then the endorsement stands on its own.

I agree sorta.

It may not have caught like wildfire so much in a day if they hadn't basically forwarded it (I don't think they needed to either), but I am *sure* that there would still be think pieces about "why does this transphobic man support Bernie"that imply he is transphobic, white people first, etc, some moderate media source posting a story about it, etc. not to mention many tweets about it as well because there is truly a concerted effort to take him down for even perceived wrong doing. And so far, Bernie hasn't actually done anything wrong verifiably that he's been accused of in the last month, its all just perception  This, along with the silence on more prominent figures who have done worse, tells me that it isn't about doing or saying the right things, its about him as a person and what he stands for and what people stand to lose if he wins. Like, a year ago I would have called that fraction of the bernie supporters a *bit* hyperbolic or conspiratorial (in fact I have in many private conversations), but I have been surprised to see just how *astoundingly* hypocritical, aloof, and pernicious mainstream media has been in pushing insane narratives about him in hopes that something will finally land and end his campaign.

The fact that so many Hillary supporters just completely bought into the kind of shallow  "look, breaking up the banks wont end racism, #Feminism" talk in 2016 actually makes me Very angry :rip: Like, they're just weaponizing identity politics to try to stop... efforts to actually help marginalized communities lives better.

Take the #MeToo movement. When I was in college I got involved with a few organizations meant to spread awareness about sexual assault, intervention, and advocacy for survivors etc.... and its RIDICULOUS to see people like ****ing Neera Tanden turn "#MeToo" which is explicitly about sexual assault and abuse into "Believe everything a woman says about everything ever" :saladga:

Like, I spent years even on this damn website telling people that "Believe Women" is a reaction to the reality that women are systematically not trusted to be honest about their own assault, and are presumed to be lying, malicious, or un trustworthy even by people as high up as police officers, government officials, not to mention friends, family, neighbors, etc. Like "Believe Women" was our way of saying - We have a problem with rape culture in this society, and we need to find new means of addressing it.

And now *I* am being perceived as a reactionary for being like "hold up, believe women doesnt mean women don't ever lie" and its kind of hilarious :deadbanana: I don't even know how much of it is honest, sincerely malicious gaslighting from right-leaning figures concern trolling, and how much of it is just unintentional personal biases towards establishment figures clouding perspective, even on this website let alone people I know in real life.

To be fair, if you listen to the video, the more borader point is that Joe says he's a nice guy, that  you can trust him, that he likes him. etc.

I think people took it as an endorsement video (because he does talk about how he's probably going to vote for Bernie) but I think the more important part was someone who doesn't agree with Bernie on all the issues believes in Bernie, in his earnest to bring about change to the country and that's why he is probably going to vote for him.

If you took Joe from the equation, people would say it was a positive ad. You put Joe in it and all of a sudden all of woke twitter is saying that Joe should be denounced. That's the problem. The fact that despite Joe's problamatic statements in the past, the fact he wants to vote for somebody progressive like Bernie because he trusts him isn't inherently evil like woke twitter would like everybody to believe.
