I know it so well that I could recite the entire song at 15x speed, and I do constantly much to people's disdain. Watch out when this comes on at the club, I will become a mess.” It's upsetting to see this one at third, but it's in great company with a top three like this. @Computer @Tranquility @Sizzily

Chromatica 7,039
Jolene should be the number one song. I Will Always Love You is beautiful and it has an amazing story, but Dolly's version isn't even the most popular version of it. It's Whitney Houston's signature song, whereas Jolene is Dolly's signature song. Going into this I didn't have a doubt that Jolene would be #1, but after seeing some of these rankings I'm nervous. This song has big best song of all time energy. The Dumplin' remix is a must-have for my wedding.” Chart Information: Australia: #99 Canada (RPM) Top Singles: #84 Canada Adult Contemporary Songs (RPM): #40 Canada Country Singles (RPM): #1 Denmark: #19 Ireland: #8 New Zealand: #6 South Africa: #3 Sweden: #16 UK Singles: #7 (14 Weeks on Chart) US Billboard Hot 100: #60 (8 Weeks on Chart) US Adult Contemporary: #44 (4 Weeks on Chart) US Country Songs: #1 (19 Weeks on Chart) Song Information: Ranked No. 217 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of "the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time", Jolene is among Parton’s most well-known tracks (despite not being anywhere near her best charting song). It also Parton’s most covered piece of material. Released on the album of the same name, “Jolene” managed to peak at #6 on the Country Albums Chart in 1974. This tied her highest peak on this chart up to that point which was “My Blue Ridge Mountain Boy” (1969). “Jolene” is also Parton’s most streamed song on Spotify as of December 2019. I honestly don't feel confident commenting on a song that speaks for itself like this.” Chart Information: Charts (1974 Version) US Hot Country Songs: #1 (15 Weeks on Chart) Canada Country Tracks: #4 Charts (1982 Version) Australia: #72 Canada Top Singles: #8 Canada Adult Contemporary: #1 Canada Country Tracks: #1 US Billboard Hot 100: #53 (14 Weeks on chart) US Adult Contemporary: #17 (12 Weeks on Chart) US Hot Country Songs: #1 (19 Weeks on Chart) Charts (1995 Version w/ Vince Gill) US Hot Country Songs: #15 (20 Weeks on Chart) Canada Country Tracks: #22 Other Nominations (N) and Wins (W) Associated With the Jolene Era and IWALY in General: Top Female Vocalist of 1974 (Academy of Country Music Awards) (N) BMI Country Award for IWALY (1975) (W) BMI Pop Award for IWALY (1982) (W) BMI Country Award for IWALY (1983) (W) CMT Award for Best Female Vocalist of 1974 (N) CMT Award for Single of the Year of 1995 (w/ Vince Gill) (N) CMT Award for Collaboration of the Year of 1996 (w/ Vince Gill) (N) CMT Award for Collaboration of the Year of 1997 (w/ Vince Gill) (N) CMA Female Vocalist of the Year 1974 (N) CMA Vocal Event of the Year 1996 (W) Grammy Award for Best Country Vocal Performance, Female 1983 (N) Grammy Award for Best Country Vocal Collaboration (w/ Vince Gill) 1996 (N) Nashville Songwriters Association “Songwriter Achievement Award” for IWALY (1995) (W) Song Information: Written in the same songwriting session as “Jolene”, “I Will Always Love You” was a song about the breakup of a professional relationship with country star Porter Wagoner in 1974. It holds the record as the first song to ever peak at #1 on the Hot Country Singles charts on two separate occasions, once in 1974 and once in 1982 (the version featured in the Best Little Whorehouse in Texas). Whitney Houston also covered the track in 1992 as the lead single for The Bodyguard Soundtrack. Interestingly, Parton did not allow Elvis to record the song back in 1975 after requesting 50% of the publishing rights for IWALY. This decision turned out to be quite intelligent, especially after Houston’s version did quite well. Live Performance: Covers:
