They've been using that argument for years to not follow the EU guidances. They just want to lock the customers and force them into buyi'g a 40€ charger from them. And make the port evolve every few years so people are forced into buying a new one.

I'm happy the EU is finally making laws instead of guidances to force them into the right path. It's a mascarade at this point.

Apple has one of the very highest profit margins in the world. More profit does nothing for innovation.

1/3 of their revenue is already profit the argument they can't be innovative with stuff holding them back is beyond laughable

I'm not anti Corporate or anti profit

But Apple is not a typical Corporation. They are the Corporate world's version of their top 0.1% they are the top of the top

The same way the Government should try harder to level the playing field among the top 1% and everyone else... The same can be said of the Corporate world too

There's a huge performance gap between Corporate ellites like Apple, Amazon, energy Giants like Exxon Mobil and other names people might think of and the average Corporation that struggles to break even and can't keep up with the extremely large ones monopolizing the market

Even among the very large companies there's huge inequality among them

It’s about time someone doesn’t put up with Apple’s bs. I’m an apple user but their exclusivity thing is childish.

The only thing that I can think of is the internals. It would push a lot of ideas and upcoming models back, because everything would have to be adjusted to fit in a USB-C port. From what I’ve watched and read, Apple designs their products at least three years ahead of time.

As for the complete wireless charging idea, Apple is working on that as well, but doesn’t want to rush it. I hate that idea, and hope they don’t implement it for at least another five years.

If the law is immediate I can see that inconvinience for the designs...

But I can imagine the charging port being that difficult to adjust...

Charging ports use the same basic principal to charge and materials. It shouldn't be complicated to change that part and keep the rest of the inside the same... Even the spot of the charging port shouldn't have to change

Even though I'm an Apple fan and owner. Their exclusivity and high prices for accesories has me fed up. I'm glad EU is taking this approach. Specially since lightning cable is garbage. I already have 4 just in case one breaks.

I actually prefer the Lightning over USB-C. The USB-C ports become loose much quicker and is more flimsy. Also, USB-C is not as “universal” as most people think. It is just a physical standard, connection speeds and power delivery differ between cables.

The fact that a typical Corporation only has profit margins of 5% to 10% of revenue and apple some years is 30% :deadbanana:

They don't need the profit from seperate chargers

Apple introducing new one of a kind products gave them the edge and monopoly early on, lawsuit here and lawsuit there, they tried to choke down any competition...

They can't do that any more, ...till they bring a new product out that nobody else has.

like a cat in a sil, I observe life, moving and still. My words give a clue, look inside to see whats true
