Do you wish Gaga wasn’t so pop

Like, her discography. :wtfga: Does her studio music on her solo albums sometimes not go hard enough due to trying to stay too commercial? (Which she’s admitted to doing-like on Joanne she said she brought BP in to give it a pop finish for “pop” fans/the GP?) Do you think this stops her from having a better discography or does it help her.

No. There's nothing wrong with her discography being 'pop'. Sometimes trying to go "too hard" for the sake of going "hard" can make a record very convoluted and messy.

Agreed. I love all her music but would love to see more experimentation. Even when she takes the most risks, we only go as far as some stuff on ARTPOP only some of which is really experimental.

I assume it's because of interscope but I wish she would experiment musically as much as she does with her image.

She's still one of the more diverse pop musicians in terms of what kind of pop music she makes, but it's still all pop nonetheless.

Yeah sometimes honestly. Like ARTPOP and Joanne for example would’ve been better if they weren’t made more commercial. But overall she‘a always had  almost full control of her albums, and she always always always incorporates more than one genre and sometimes fuses them together (BTW) making them less “Poppy” I do agree with you about the commercial thing tho, which is why I’m a tiny bit scared her label might’ve forced her to do more power ballads, because it would be going more commercial not in sound but in being a peoplepleaser lol

EDIT: I’m happy with her discography though and quite frankly  I think it’s one of the best discographies out there, not quite the best but almost everything she puts out is high quality, commercial or not. So honestly I’m just grateful with the way it is.

✨oh the lights dim while we’re dancing yeah the floor is shaking in this disco heaven✨

I fully believe Interscope forces her to water herself down. I mean we all know what they did to ARTPOP I imagine they have watered down all her music to some extent.

I like the accessibility and eclectic quality of her music. It’s why her fans are so diverse and come from all walks of life. If her music were more “niche”, then she wouldn’t have made as big of an impact as she has.

I mean I'm pretty sure she has wanted to release her own jazz music but Interscope wouldn't approve original jazz because critics PAN any original jazz that isn't amazing. She was gonna release Paradise. I'm pretty sure she's not the one who decided against it. Also, her most jazzy song Just Another Day only made it to the deluxe version of Joanne. :triggered:

And the fact that Diane confirmed that Interscope didn't want her to put TIHTY on an album. F*** them. TIHTY is literally a pop ballad but even that was too much for them.

That's not what was said. Bloodpop was added to the record to make it more modern and less "analog". It wasn't necessarily done to make it "more pop" since most of the album tracks were already written in the typical-pop format.

Why wouldn’t someone want their “stripped back” country-influenced album to be analog though? :messga: and let’s be honest, if Joanne was more acoustic and sounded like it came out of the 70s that would make it less pop...

Excuse me, Gaga’s Pop is high brow pop, tho. Nobody is hating or feeling bad for listening to it. It is well regarded kind of pop, it is not bubble gum, so why should I wish it wasn’t so pop?

I feel like her repertoire is very decent. :flower:
