I’ve been pretty insecure about my voice as it doesn’t really sound like anyone in the top 40s or any indie rock boys. Morrissey is the closest. So your words on my voice really mean a great deal to me. Everyone is commenting on the 80s influence. There’s no denying it’s there. I’m obsessed with everything 80s music. I think that the instrumental production is on point, the vocal production in the chorus is on point. But the vocal production on the verses... They need some extra work. Of course music production seems easy but it isn't, so I really appreciate what you've done so far. I was talking more about how they were recorded and mixed with the music. In the chorus it sounds well because your vocal track has some effects and also the music kind of masks the flaws of the recording. Thank you for the kind words, I’m so glad that you’re enjoying it. I play guitar some. I am a cellist, that’s my first instrument and I am actively training on it. I had a good friend of mine (Justin Lewis!) record the guitar on the song, but I arranged a few of his parts. The mix is quite noisy, the vocals don’t sound as well balanced on my cell phone as they do on some of my headphones. I assisted the mixing process from a directional standpoint, but most of the technical stuff was handled by my engineer. The vocals were lightly time edited to perfect the timing. I sing half note triplets in the lines “do I leave or do I stay” “if you stay here it just makes you worse” and “the new sun set our love on fire”. You're right, it does sound like Morrissey! And I think it's a plus to sound different than the rest!
