It's amazing that the tabs never knew about Gaga's mental breakdown

I was just re-reading a transcript of the amazing, groundbreaking Oprah interview

Check out the details of the psychological break Gaga suffered somewhat recently. She said it was triggered by a court deposition, so I am thinking maybe it happened around the time of the "Judah" copyright infringement case or Jeniferrella. Do we know of any other court cases Gaga was involved with?

“I was on the couch, Oprah,” she said. “I was laid out. I could not move. I was being assessed by doctors to see if they could get me to move … I was triggered really badly in a court deposition, and this part of the brain where you stay centered and you don't disassociate? It slammed down.”

Once triggered, her entire body started tingling, then it went numb. She was taken to a hospital screaming, “Why is no one else panicking?”

“They brought in a psychiatrist and I said, 'Can you give me a real doctor?'” she said, noting how hypocritical that sounds coming from the woman who runs a foundation for mental health. “I mean, that's how I was so separated from the world. Once we started talking, he realized what had happened to me, then he ordered medication for me that I took, reluctantly at first. He became my psychiatrist and assembled a team for me. I went away to a place that I go to sometimes still for a reboot. They took care of me, and we got all of the things lined up.”

 

Gaga mentions going away to "a place," most likely some sort of rehab facility. When most other celebrities have breakdowns, are hospitalized, or enter rehab, the tabloids find out about it. Yet we had NO IDEA Gaga went to any of that, until she told us about it on her own terms. I found that really amazing. Gaga is so good at not being seen if she doesn't want to be.  Unless she is referencing the place she went in 2013 after her hip injury?  But that seems too early

I was trying to piece the timeline for this together in my head, imagine what signs I possibly could have missed as a fan.  I also found it interesting that Gaga didn't bring up her hip injury at all in the interview-- I would have thought that was a huge part of her mental health and we've speculated forever that it was related to her fibro, but she didn't mention anything like that.  Anyone else have any thoughts on the timeline of the events Gaga talked about?

They don't need true stories.

Also, Gaga isn't as much in the public eye. She wouldn't have been a great seller if she was a cover story.

Tabloids are all about radical stories for money. That is all.

Actually now that I think about it, you are right. I guess surrounding yourself and working with people who actually cares about you is a good thing. Nobody on her team ratted this out to the press. She really is protected by people who love her. With friends in a team like that, I think Gaga can conquer the world.

There’s also the court case about Dr Luke and Kesha. Was that in 2015? EDIT: it was in 2017.

we knew she went to a facility in another state. I think the facility specializes in fybromialgia cases, I don’t remember where it was.

I took it as her being triggered by the Dr Luke case and the deposition she gave there. It seems to be Oregon she heads to, I think we had photos from there in late 2017, if I remember rightly?

I agree, she must have an amazing support team, family, and friends to have helped her get through it and for it to have been kept private.

She is her own tabloid I think. She talks about all this in public now. Other people go through such things too but they do not have Oprah standing by to give them a platform.

I believe this happened in September 2017. Gaga was deposed in the Dr. Luke/ Kesha case on Sept 12. In the transcript she is described by her own lawyer as having a PTSD response before they even begin.

On Sept 14 she cancelled Rock In Rio and posted on Instagram that she had been hospitalized due to extreme pain. After that she was somewhere healing for a while, she did post pictures from there.

It is wonderful that she has a trustworthy medical team and people around her that allow her to tell her own story in her own time.

What OP meant was when it comes to other celebrities, people find out through the press (a leak from people around them) whereas that isn’t the case for Gaga. Celebs don’t need Oprah for a platform.

Yes, this. While she was talking about it, I figured it was during this time she was referencing. 

She then went on to cancel the Joanne World Tour the following February, which was also due to her pain.

Oh that makes a lot of sense, I forgot that Gaga testified in that case. And I can see why it would be severely triggering since it was a pretty obvious example of victims being gaslighted and she was dragged into testifying by Luke's lawyers

That pretty much puts it all together for me, thanks
