A guy almost strangled my friend to death during a Grindr hookup just a few months ago. There are some actual freaks on there, and, now, I can only warn others to avoid hookups from that app. Try to actually know the people you're sleeping with. It's safer and  healthier in the long-run.

OT: This is f*ing scary… I joined a dating app less than a week ago, and that could be me in the future… I've only spoken to a few people on there but I already discovered that one of them showed me a selfie that wasn't theirs. I need to be careful, but thank god, I'm clever enough to make my own investigations, and I won't show up to one of these people without hiding my face to make sure that it's not an old stranger that pretended to be young etc., and if i happens to be the case, I'll leave instantly.

Honestly I just wish Grindr would become a thing of the 2010s and be cancelled. 

It has contributed to the rise of STDs, mental health issues, social anxiety, loneliness. There is no way you can really prove you are drug and disease free. And honestly I know so many people that have "hosted" to get their belongings stolen or worse get attacked. 

It's actually a terrible app that has even had a negative impact on gay neighborhoods and businesses because people dont go out as much anymore. 

There are alot people in the LGBTQ+ community that use this app for all the wrong reasons and don't even realize how much damage they are doing to themselves nightly by using it. 

There might be a small fraction of a percentage of people who found something meaningful on it...but 99.999% of the time it is a waste of time and a place to pretty much destroy your reputation and decency. 

Essentially, when it comes to Grindr what you really get are...

CONS:

-Get Lied to 

-Get Stolen From

-Catch an STD

-Get attacked

-Waste Time Meeting a Catfish

-Send nudes of your body only to get ghosted

-Experience racism or other byproducts of homophobia, biphobia, transphobia, or generalized sexism

-Get told your body isn't attractive

-Wonder why you aren't good enough for some people

-Sexualize and compromise your values

-Meet someone who is actually homophobic and uses it to entrap you 

-Get coaxed into annoying spam accounts that waste your time

-Waste your money (for those Grindr Xtra users)

-When you wont compromise your values, get told you are prude or an asshole

-Potentially meet bad people who are bad influences 

-If you are an addict or prone to addiction, get enticed into addiction (the presence of drugs on Grindr is alarming)

-Human trafficking. Need I say more?

-Potentially accidentally talk to a minor (You ever had an "18/19" confess later in the conversation they are really not old enough to be on there? What if you had already sent **** pics? Then congratulations, when their crazy religious mom finds their phone you'll be getting plenty of action in prison as a felon on the sex offender registery.)

-Continue to perpetuate the idea that it is normal to meet randoms on apps, thereby unintentionally perpetuating that it is outdated or odd to just go on a date. (Its actually insane how many younger gays will act like you are weird because you just want to ask them to go to dinner. They think someone asking them out on a dinner date is weirder than sending them a picture of your hole with a butt plug in it. How the fug did that become normal?)

-Meet up with a dangerous person and get drugged/raped

-Or in this case get killed and part of your body are by a cannibal (by the way, this isn't the first time this has happened. And according to the F.B.I., of the known 60+ ACTIVE serial killers throughout the United States, it's been confirmed 14 of them have/still use....guess which app....GRINDR...to target their victims.)

 

PROS:

-You might meet a great hookup, a new friend, or a potential relationship. And that's IF they don't ghost you later and act awkward after. 

-Networking. I mean...maybe? But if you are using Grindr to network....what the hell business are you in?

 

Truthfully I think we can do better than this. Grindr is high key super trashy now. And I promise...it will eventual hurt you or your reputation in some way. Gays talk. And you having a profile can totally and probably at some point has been used to talk **** about you. Just sayingggg. It's not good for you. And you actually feel alot better and start seeing people you actually like in your day to day REAL life after you delete. I did. And honestly, my confidence and self worth has boomed and my anxiety when it comes to boys has decreased alot. 

All that app does is confuse you in a jungle of whether or not you are good enough. And honestly you all are. And you have much better chances of meeting someone or just being happy with yourself until you find that someone, WITHOUT  IT.
