But won’t it go back to normal now for the 2021 Grammy Awards? Like won’t the eligibility period be a month longer to compensate the fact that it’s shorter this year? I think the august cutoff was a permanent change so the ceremony can take place in January moving forward every year.

I hope not. I mean it would be ridiculous to permanently keep the deadline on August 31st since the Grammys are supposed to reflect the best in music from the previous year. 4 whole months from the previous year would be left out. Well they're trying to move away from February to escape the Oscars, Superbowl, and Olympics. Doubt they'll go back before 2023 at least. Honestly they usually vote for like 2 weeks, I don't understand why they have to close submissions 5 months ahead even the Oscars allow until the end of the year. Yeah I was thinking of the Oscars or the Golden Globes where voters vote like a few weeks ahead of the ceremony so they include submissions up until the very end of the year. It is more logical. It is her first nomination since 2010! Great! Apparently online voting for this starts Jan. 20. I won't stand another loss a la Bohemian Rhapsody at the AMAs.
