she’s not getting younger. She sounds great. Her voice is going to change and that’s inevitable.

Sick of all these fake-ass concern troll posts where the OP acts like "Oh I'm just so worried about sweet Gagi because I'm such a GOOD PERSON" yet they just use it as an excuse to drag her for not being perfect and accuse her of being unable to make good choices for herself

But why make a link with how she's doing physically? She sounded fine during the ARTPOP era for example and that was supposedly when she was in the most pain.

I agree with your post though, she is struggling vocally :chica: But I just don't think that has anything to do with the subject matter on display during the Oprah talk.

I don't know if fibro affects the voice but i was thinking it could be a possibility?

Cherry picking video moments and getting over-dramatic about her vocal health is unnecessary.   Sure, on occassion she will have some off moments, as does any singer who is actually singing live.   However look at other videos from late in the year J&P and she sounds fine.    She is a human being that doesn't lipsync.   Give her some leeway to be human instead of expecting perfection every single time.

I can post several videos from the past few months where she's struggling to hit notes like she used to. It isn't a case of one or two shows anymore.

Those videos are low quality sellphone videos they dont show what it sounds like in IRL so stop using them as proof

She has either passed her vocal prime or her voice is very unhealthy/tired. I love her so much, but she isn't able to sing the way she used to. That's not to say she's not singing well... She is! But she used to sound better. I don't know why some fans have such a hard time admitting this. I think 2014-2017 might have been her prime and now we are seeing some vocal decline.

I’m kinda glad to have found this thread. I couldn’t understand how someone could have as many fans as Gaga, and yet nobody seemed to be talking about this.

My overall take on Gaga is straightforward. I’ve only been listening to her for six months, but from what I’ve found on Youtube I’m clear in my head that she is one of the best live performers I’ve ever seen, and, frankly, if you were to ask me to name someone whom I preferred, well, I’d struggle (and speaking of Frank, I go all the way back to him).

But her Jazz & Piano performances have been distressing. Even in her first run, yes, she was stunning, but I don’t think she was quite as good as four or five years ago. Her second run was a step down from that, and her most recent run in Oct/Nov just wasn’t her at all; and based on the limited footage I’ve seen from New Year’s Eve, there doesn’t seem to have been any improvement in the meantime. I fully accept that mobile phones are going to produce poor quality (even the band sounds off sometimes), but there can be no doubt that she is struggling.

Maybe there’s a logistical reason why Enigma is always on before Jazz & Piano, but it strikes me that they are the wrong way around. Surely the one where it’s almost entirely about vocal quality should be on first ?

Anyway, I hope this situation with her voice is recoverable, but even if she never sang another note I would be eternally grateful for what she has already done (and I would go to all of her movies).

More importantly, I wish her good health and happiness.

Check out this performance at the last Jazz & Piano show (Dec. 31, 2019):

She is STRUGGLING. In all the years I have been a fan, I have never seen the quality of her voice get like this :(. It makes me think this is the reason why LG6 is taking so long... she is probably scrapping recordings because her voice is currently not at its full potential.

Also, do you guys think this has to do with age? I ask because when she was 24-25 years old doing the Monster Ball she would sing and travel a lot more frequently yet the quality of her voice never seemed to decline. But she’s currently only 33 which is still REALLY young and she’s not performing/traveling as often as she used to! You know what I mean? It’s strange to me...

Ok, this is the first time I have seen this happen in Vegas. I will not deny that she sounds off here. But I don't think there is any reason to worry at all.

First of all, the human throat is very subject to change. Eat something spicy, and it will sound different later when you sing. Scream or yell slightly louder, and your voice will sound different immediately. The only way to sing 2 hours straight without letting your voice be affected is to 'fake the scream', so that you are able to sing very high notes, without actually hurting your throat. I used to not know this and just scream on the top of my lungs in order to reach high notes or make a raspy voice for certain genres, but I've recently discovered that it's possible to still do those things without actually hurting your throat.

Gaga is aware of that technique. Just because she accidentally hurt her throat for that show doesn't mean it won't heal in one or two days. Watch her sound pitch perfect in the next show.

It happened many times to me so I can absolutely relate to that condition seen in this video.

She sounds legendary here from the same show, same night. She probably sang too hard at some point after this performance, it's not a permanent thing:

Yes, she's fine here singing Poker Face, and I would pay good money to see her doing this, but as sung in jazz and piano it's a comedy song and probably the least challenging thing she does. When  I look at recent footage of her, in general what I am seeing is someone who is mangling words, presumably to make them easier to sing.

Compare recent performances with her singing of the National Anthem at the Superbowl. Virtually everybody who takes on that song ends up mangling some part of it to help them hit, or appear to hit, a note. Gaga stood up there and met every word and syllable head on with cut glass vowels. It was maybe the most beautiful elocution lesson ever given.

Yeah, I'm judging her by very high standards, but that's where she has been, and she just isn't there at the moment.
