Lighter 15,376
Can someone summarize the whole story on how their career ended. And how it was possible for them to win Album of the Year then right away just for their takedown to seem so easy?
Gypsy 3,826
After publicly announcing they're ashamed of the USA president the 90% of boomers of the fanbase held grudges after they refused to apologise (they had no need to apologise IMO). USA was a huge % of their fanbase and then they took a huge huge break I believe and it all fizzled out. I believe they also got banned from USA radios / performing. I don't believe they've made any new songs expect maybe some singles / collabs since the 2000s decade. They're coming back slowly though they just did a successful tour. I'm ready for new music from them I love Travelin' Solider, Goodbye Earl, Wide Open Spaces, Not Ready To Make Nice ect

HoneyB 27,926
Queens They had every conservative country singer PRESSEDT when they performed together I’m glad they stood up to what they believe in! 💋 𝕊𝕥𝕖𝕡 𝕐𝕒 ℂ𝕠𝕠𝕜𝕚𝕖𝕤 𝕌𝕡💋🍪

RAMROD 109,603
They took a stand, and most of conservative Americans did not appreciate their moves because they are feeling strongly patriotic after 9/11, and supportive of declaring war on Iraq, not knowing the actual agenda of that attack was the oil. They were shunned for not standing up with them and the rest of Country/Folk music industry who are still largely conservative ti this day. It is known as grassroots music of USA in the end. They always shunned anyone who show signs of progressiveness. Country music fans aren't the one who take getting snubbed lightly. Judas Society 3,584
what about Kacey Musgraves? She seems kinda progressive. Not really into the country music scene but just seems like she's still attending the CMAs and not shunned.

Society was way more harsh towards those types of statements back then, especially in a post-911 ultra-conservative United States and regardless of that, not a thing Kacey has expressed so far is even close to being as controversial as what the Dixie Chicks did. If anything Musgraves would probably be getting praised by a large portion of people on the internet for expressing anti-war sentiments and would never get blacklisted without a ruckus. Daylight Jokers 14,958
I was looking forward for their collab with Taylor, but I was disappointed that they were basically just back up singers on the track.

True, maybe in today's political climate, openly chastise LGBT community or supporting Trump will cause more controversy. But still, to be shunned from an industry, I wonder what sort of statement would result in that today.

You'd either have to be exposed as a horrible person who did horrible things like, say, Harvey Weinstein (and look how long that took, not to mention the f*cker is still richer than all of us) or maybe say something that insults a revered institution by patriots like the United States military or something of the sort but I doubt the latter would actually get you blacklisted in today's climate. Or to be openly racist. But those were legitimate. Not like taking a political standpoint. In retrospect, The Dixie Chicks were unfairly treated.
