mzncb 332
Arguably the best rendition covered by (Both Grammy and Academy Award Winner) Glen Hansard and Colm MacIomaire ... Remember the song's producer Guy Sigworth's recalling the song's creative process... "...initially I wasn’t quite sure what to do because she’s famous for her more dance-y songs, and I’m not. But it all turned out great. She had the root idea for “Everytime” (on her album In the Zone), and I could really tell that her heart was in it. I knew what my mission was. I could see the picture. She believed in the song, and I had to find a way to present it that was true to the simple emotion of it. It was a joy to do. At the time, Britney had started to play the piano a bit, and she could certainly play well enough to spell out the root chords.... ...She’d show me what she had, and I would say, “Well, here’s how we could fill this out.” We both knew where it needed to go, so I could color it in after she’d sung the main vocal. I love it when I get the vocal very early on, and I’m free to experiment with arrangement ideas while always hearing that final vocal. I love it when it can happen that way, though not every time is like that. We both knew we had to avoid all the cheezy power ballad cliches. No windchimes into the chorus. No giant snare drums. I loved it." https://consequenceofsound.net/2017/09/from-bjork-to-britney-songwriter-and-producer-guy-sigsworth-on-being-a-kindred-spirit-in-the-studio/5/

People like to make a big deal about Debbie Gibson writing her own music but would an acclaimed Grammy and Academy award winner tribute her corny ass writing like this beautiful Britney tribute... I don't think so. 3 hours ago, lovedillon said: The epitome of one dimensional. To Aaliyah's credit, she had a weak voice but sang live, this is where Britney's handlers (including LARRY RUDOLPH) failed her by not molding her into an Aaliyah-like singer (a singer with a weak voice but can still sing live) But if ANYONE ever gives Aaliyah or Brandy credit for their music, Britney deserves her credit for In The Zone. Don't get me wrong; I adore Britney and think she's an icon. However don't try to make her into something she's not. Britney isn't a songwriter and that's okay. A lot of artists aren't. She's a great dancer and performer and that doesn't make her any less of an icon Free my mind

I don't care what what she is known for or how many songs that she never wrote. She composed this hit song unlike most of her peers and credit should be given where credit is due. I’m actually a pretty decent Britney fan. I meant my comment more as a joke than anything but yes, credit where credit is due & Britbrit did write a great song. I wish she would write more of her own music but for Glory she was really heavily involved in the writing process & creating the sound which I appreciate. Honestly Glory, In The Zone & Blackout are THEE holy trinity.

I think people meant that we can give credit to her for writing A song, but stans like to use this to put her up on that pedestal saying she is a songwriter. Writing a few songs and never exactly playing the piano much doesn't make you a songwriter. Songwriters are people who knows how to craft a song both lyrically and muscially. Not many pop icons are songwriters tbh. People need to accept the fact that she is still a pop icon though. She's forever a pop princess.
