Happy Days Shut Up GIF by CBS All Access

Gaga has never disappointed on an Oscar stage.

You can debate your faves but every Oscar performance is an iconic Gaga performance. Each had her raw talent on display to millions ww and to influential  members of the "establishment" that hadn't cared for her previously, or didn't have an f'n clue she could do that. Not even us!

Each performance further solidified her deserved status as a music icon.

Each garnered more and more respect from the GP .

Each performance left ppl talking  for days.

Each was a pivotal event --particularly in the succession of performances/projects  from 2013-2016 --that truly gooped the greater GP/industry audience

Can we just be proud of these major accomplishments ?

It's pretty pointless, to try to tear one down to raise the other,no?

. But Shallow deserved the Oscar over TIHTY though, because we all know Shallow is a Gaga song and the other is a Dianne song.

Okay Linda Perry

I know that immediately after the Oscar nominations, Linda Perry had offered some critiques on Gaga’s involvement…
I don’t even deal with that. Let’s let the drama stay where the drama is buried. It’s about what the song is doing and the message of it and how it’s helping so many people and how positive it is. What Gaga brought to it is very valuable, and I’m not gonna let someone question that. If they want to, they can. But that’s their thing, not mine. --Dianne Warren (RS online 2/23/2016)

That performance gives me chills to this day. Amongst her absolute best.

Didn't the Oscar director or producer praise Gaga as being the go to person when you wanted a big moment on an awards show?

I know fans really want her to travel to every country to tour but I think she has a bigger impact doing these random performances that blow everyone away. And they take WORK. She trained for months to do the Sound of Music vocals.

Anyway I kinda side eye Diane because of things she said or didn't say on that podcast with that Drag race woman.. Don't get Gaga to partner with you on a song about assault, pull off standing ovation worthy performances, get nominated for an Oscar and then try to belittle her contribution.

Is this Rupaul? My vague memory is feeling like she did say something that could be seen as shady but reading/watching many of her interviews, She's a really forthright and blunt person. At the end of the da, she LOVES Gaga and did bring  the song to Gaga. Hence the 70/30 (?) thing with the Grammys (?)

Girl, Gaga had 10% only credit in the song.

Deal with the facts. She just didn't write that song. She contributed slightly to it. It's better that we be truthful about certain things rather than be delusional stans.

Why do you think Gaga didn't receive an Emmy nomination for the song? Because she didn't meet the 20% threshold required.

I'm glad she won for Shallow instead of that song. At least she can say with confidence that Shallow was her song.

It gave us this iconic emoticon, what did Shallow performance give to us? Ah?

It gave us a performance so iconic that the OSCARs themselves use a gif of BradGa to ask the world what their favourite moment from the OSCARs is, as though there isn't any other answer. :firega:

Yes, it was Ru Paul and the female judge and from what I remember they were trying to stir the pot and get D to shade her (extra disappointing as Gaga has been on that show). I just wish D had had her back a bit more.

And Linda Perry really showed herself, even Diane was mortified.

Makes me think of Gaga saying she could count in one hand the amount of women in the industry who are truly supportive.

Where did I say Gaga wrote TIHTY?

Yes, there is a distinction between writer and singer but put them together and you get a song.

Is it a Gaga song? Yes. Is it a Warren song? Yes. Gaga is actually credited as aco-writer, and producer and, of course, vocalist. She can claim the song as it's singer, Diane can claim it as the originator, and  it's their song as co-creators.  I'm not putting Diane down at all, or even trying to. The facts are they collaborated and together finished the product. Neither of them have claimed to be more of less a contributor to the song then they were. I'm really trying to understand what the exact problem is?

Why are you so pressed about it when  Diane Warren herself has been anything but?
