2020: Great Lakes Will Submerge Parks, Trails, Boat Launches and More

It's getting serious. The record alltime high water levels of the Great Lakes Will go even higher in 2020 because this winter is expected to be colder and snowier than usual

 

It's predicted that entire parks and trails near great lakes will be flooded and boat launches submerged and some buildings will have to be moved. Many Millions in damages are expected

 

In addition to parks and Trails Toronto Island will be submerged for the 3rd year essentially destroying business there, and the city of Chicago could see even more severe flooding in its outer edges

It's Torontos island that got Submerged

 

I been wanting to go there again for years and now I can't cuz it's always under water

 

Chicago's bike trails tho. The water is literally entering the edges of the city

Please, they’re never at the lake. I should know, I’m basically a kelpie at this point with how much I hang around it  she wants their attention. Fix the world or I’ll make y’all soggy bottoms

The lakes are huge. Larger than some Countries...

 

Their levels are beyond our control

 

There's dams and levies on the outflows of some of the lakes to control ships coming in and out. In theory if water levels go dangerously low we could shut the water in to not go out from the rivers...

 

But if the issue is too much water, we can't really make it drain faster

 

The lakes take many months to go up or down several inches because they are so large... It takes a lot of rain or melted snow over many months to significantly raise their levels but it also takes months of a lot of warm or dry weather to bring it back down

 

Almost every year since 2013 (when they hit record low water levels) preceptitation has been above evaporation annually so it keeps accumulating

 

Beaches I used to see every time I went to Toronto are gone cuz the water is covering it

Anything that happens in the Great Lakes is because of the Chicago gays.

So sad the Toronto islands will be gone soon. Every summer since 2017 they have been flooded. The beaches there were so much fun. Last year my friends and I literally walked in hip high water to reach the beach. I’m going to try to go as many times this summer before they are permanently destroyed

I mean they can come back if water levels drop back down to more normal levels

 

But I can't imagine Toronto island ever being what it was. Besides flood damage it's also been closed so mamy businesses would be bankrupt by now

Not only businesses are closing but the entire island is becoming swamp like. The flooding is also adding to the tick problem and polluting water supplies. Essentially, there will come a point where it’ll cost more money to try and keep the island protected than the profit they make from tourists. I’m sure the lgbtq community however will continue to flock to the nude beach there, come hell or high water (literally).
