What we're merely interested in, in the evaluation of a show's quality is the final product. We have tons of songs written in hours and minutes with varying qualities. Some of the biggest hits are written within an hour and some more. Secondly, while I would ask you to elaborate on 'no message, concept or visual cohesion' since that is a statement presented by you as a factual conclusion that you expect every single person on this planet to believe in, it actually has no bearing on my original question - is the OP incorrect for preferring Gagachella over Beychella? Even if you manage to prove that Gagachella is visually incoherent and lacking message (which would be very contentious amongst Gaga fans), it all boils down to the OP's right to be entitled to what you acknowledged in the first sentence of your post - art is subjective. Thirdly, it is extremely easy to name three good qualities of a show which another show being compared to lacks and give a verdict that the show lacking these qualities is automatically bad. What you have failed to do is acknowledge other good qualities that Gagachella might have, that Beychella doesn't have. Besides, the qualities you mentioned, well-designed choreography and evocative visuals, are found in Gagachella to many Gaga fans. Some Gagachella fans might even say that Beychella was sonically incoherent between the marching band aesthetic and the general R&B/urban-sounding tracks that constitute her discography. Some might dislike the yellow/pink hoodie she wore and prefer the black leather coupled with (i dk waht that hat is called) the LoveGame hat that she wore (I know I do). I like both shows in their own way, but what I was trying to address is you claiming that the OP, and anyone, is delusional for having any other opinion than the one you hold. Normally I absolutely hate when people say this, but - it's not that deep OP asked "am I delulu" - to which I jokingly replied that yes, they are delusional. Obviously I don't think they are actually deluded in the literal sense for preferring their favourite singer's show over another. I, and the majority of the world it seems, believe Bey's was far far superiour to Gaga's in pretty much every way (and I'm not a Beyoncé fan at all, I've only listened to one of her albums). But if you prefer Gaga's that's fine.

Gaga was a last minute replacement And yes, you are majorly delusional if you think Gaga's was better than Beyoncé's I'd love to see how Beyonce measured up in her career without the constant hype and "story" of being a black woman and "the first black woman to...". I like Bey, she's proven herself for 20 years but she had a LOT of help from linking up with Jay Z to help her crossover from DC (I'm old enough to remember when people wondered if she'd make it as a solo star) and fans are kidding themselves if they think being a black woman in these woke times hasn't prolonged her career in the level it's at. I'll prob get hate for saying that but it's the truth.

I'll prob get hate for saying that but it's the truth. I see where you are coming from and I don't disagree that being black has helped in many ways. It adds a certain amount of credibility, importance, etc. It also makes her somewhat immune to criticism. However, there are also MANY disadvantages as well. Black artist have a harder time crossing over internationally. People call her local and there is some truth to that but a big part of that is because urban music doesn't do as well overseas. Black women have an incredibly hard time getting movie roles. There are many others but I think the pros and cons balance out so even it provides advantages in some areas, her opportunities are also limited in other areas. I do agree the Jay Z relationship helped. Celebrity who hook up with other celebrities are almost always bigger stars. And hooking up with a rapper added a ton of cool factor and credibility. But on the flip side, you have Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry who hooked up with big stars and literally no one talks about them. So it's only part of the story. You have to have star factor yourself. Either way, when enough people say something is better/best, it's best to just accept it. I know tons of people who don't care for Whitney's national anthem but there's no sense arguing it. It's just accepted as being the standard. Bey will forever be associated with the best Coachella performance. There's no sense arguing it. I don't care for her music as much, I also didn't see how it's any better than her MTV VMA's performances, but its still better than Gaga's. If Gaga spent a year preparing it and incorporating a groundbreaking theme, perhaps hers could have been as lauded. But Gaga instead spent the year working on ASIB and she had a legit cultural moment almost winning an acting oscar. Both artists are in different lanes. Miel 15,009
Regarding the name, I think it was already stirred around when it was announced she was gonna be the headliner. That said, it didn't pick up full-blown steam until after the show itself (like, two years later), or even the Netflix special (three, I-). Regarding the shows themselves- they're all good in their own way (Gagachella, Beychella, Arichella), but Beyonce had the definite advantage of extended and advanced preparation of an incredible concept, setlist, and choreography. Gaga had, like, two weeks. Ariana, love her to bits, had... time. 3 points in and ready for more

Guest
Gaga is, was, & always will be better than Beyoncé. Sorry but it’s true. Gaga actually BUILT the empire she stands upon HERSELF. She has written ALL of her albums & has meticulously crafted art & shows to go with her music that, once again, she wrote. Gaga has more art in her pinky than Bey could ever dream of. Beyoncé is not, has not & never will be what Gaga is & I’m sick of people trying to say Bey is better but since y’all really wanna compare then let’s go. I got my gloves on.
