The Conference Board which made a detailed study on behalf of the Government has concluded that the large immigration rates Canada takes in (the highest ratio of any major Developed Nation) will still be insufficient long term

The current 310,000 a year target is set to rise to 350,000 in 2021 but the board says the ageing population, retiring baby boomers and reluctance of Canadians to reform retirement benefits to compensate like other Nations have done calls for at least 450,000 immigrants a year

Trudeau has increased budget for immigration departments and services by 30% but says the 350,000 cap can only be raised if and when integration services processing capacity catch up and are capable of providing integration services to a higher number of people
