I can already see it happening. I live in a newer neighbourhood in Ottawa, and my family is one of three white families. My residence building at Ryerson is also extremely diverse. 
 

I like seeing this change. Canada is one of the most progressive countries in the world, and I like seeing it represented as such. We’ve had a dark history, but going forward, I hope things keep going this way

I don’t think so. I live around many people who come from cultures that arrest people for being gay, and they have been nothing but respectful and kind to me and many other people who are gay, trans, bi, etc.

At one point, it's amazing because people integrate without any boundaries, but on the other hand people with white hair and blue eyes are quite rare in the western world nowadays, so eventually we almost won't have people with such appearance

Meh... I live in a city that is predominantly immigrants from lands that largely don't aprove. I'm not kidding when I say a solid 40 out of 50 employees in my workplace do not agree with homosexuality

I find most immigrants here tend to respect the culture here better and mind their own business they are not really vocal about what they disagree with. U can tell many do not approve of homosexuality but they really don't do or say anything tbh the most that happens is a gay couple might get a few looks

 

For example a city like Toronto which is 51% non-white already is so diverse that people respect other people by default generally speaking. An all white town may have fewer homophobes but you can bet the ones that are will be more vocal about it than the larger number of immigrants in metros who mind their own business

 

However when it's their own children, that's where it's not as harmless

 

There's no denying that these immigrants have a more conservative culture on average than Canadians and maybe why immigrants in Canada vote Conservative more than Canadians but I still think the benefits they bring outways the negatives

 

Besides, by the end of the century when we are 80% non white, the culture of POC should be far more progressive than now...

 

Also 80% POC doesnt mean 80% immigrants. Many would be children of immigrants or grandparents who moved here who would be born in the more progressive culture

 

I see a big difference in social view points between older Indians in my city who grew up in India vs children of Indians who were already born in Canada

 

They are way less religious, they don't like the concepts of arranged marriages, most either support LGBT or if they don't they at least respect them etc.... Even subtle things like the woman walking behind her husband as a sign of submition and respect, I only see old Indians do that, the younger ones walk side by side even holding hands like Canadians do

 

It doesn't take long for generations to adapt to a new society

I won't lie, I do like the idea of a few ppl remaining pure but not because of the racial factor but just because of features that would die off

 

North Europeans have a lot of recessive genes like blue eyes, blond hair and even very fair skin that even a bit of mix often cancels out...

 

However interesting traits is not a good enough reason to try to restrict the flow of people and affect immigration... Humans are always evolving and that means some traits we may appreciate now may be gone but it's not the end of the world

 

Techally recessive genes still get passed on the same as dominant genes so they wouldn't actually be gone, they just wouldn't usually manifest or show... But once in a while if two people both with the recessive gene had a child, from time to time these traits would still show up

 

It happens a lot in Portugal where I was from. The blond hair and blue eyes genes exists in the gene pool but less than in North Europe and as a result most people for many generations always have brown hair and brown eyes...

 

But u get random kids with blue eyes and blond hair (I have at least 3 family members like that). These traits literally never show up for multiple generations then unexpectedly people are born like that because families were carrying a recessive gene they didn't know about and when two people that both have it meet, bam! Blue yes and blond hair (or both like one of my cousin's)

I find Immigrants in Canada are pretty much respectful of the culture even if there's aspects about it they don't agree

 

I know there's many immigrants against homosexuality my work is full of them for example but the thing is they are not harsh or vocal about it. They mind their own business and they don't usually make political statements about these things like US Christians do tbh

 

Your more likely to face homophobia in a small white town than in a large metro with lots of immigrants who may not approve but they literally leave u alone and don't treat u any differently

 

And their children who after are born here are usually more progressive anyway

 

Like some have their conservative culture and it's their right to believe what they wanna believe. But they aren't affecting society negatively with those beliefs, it's not resulting in hate crimes etc so I don't see the issue
