Buttigieg & Warren supporters most likely to support Trump over Dem Nominee

If this is to be believed, this must be very fascinating to GGD that Mayor Pete and Warren supporters are more likely to vote for Trump over Dem Nominee than Biden AND Bernie. Does anyone have any ideas as to why that might be? My take is that the people supporting Pete and Warren generally have higher education and higher incomes. Since they are more comfortable and don't have to fight and work twice as hard as everybody else to put food on the table and pay bills, they're more willing to have Trump as our president. 

 

Maybe the democratic party should re-consider electing a technocratic white paper wine track candidate. What does GGD think of this new development?

Probably comes down to an antecedent variable: race. Buttigieg's and Warren's supporters are more likely to be white, and white people are more likely to vote for Trump.

Age could also be a factor (Sanders has the youngest supporters and young people don't tend to like Trump), but then again Biden's supporters are the oldest according to the Emerson poll's tables, so age wouldn't explain it alone.

I mean, many Obama voters voted for Trump, so where is the shock coming from    Warren, albeit half-assedly, is trying to run as a progressive and a populist economically. and Trump is an economic populist. Some people hate what Obama did for this country especially in the rust belt and midwest, and in their eyes, Trump is the best on the economy, so is it really surprising?  A similar phenom happened in 2016 with Bernie - Democrats need to realize that part of expanding the electorate is getting politically disengaged, new people to vote and some of those new people might not be life long democrats at heart that share a worldview and political goals outside of what the candidate is campaigning on.

It could be an outlier, but if it is not and the trend continues, you should probably learn from it rather than clutch your pearls at it  The Sanders campaign has.

I'm a Warren supporter who most assuredly will never ever vote for Trump. I'd rather vote for Creepy Uncle Joe. I'd even bite my lip and vote for Tulsi "Present" Gabbard. 

(And Bernie is my second choice, so rest assured I would definitely vote for him over Trump.)

It’s still only 10/12% which is in line with the supposed amount of Bernie supporters who moved to Trump in 2016. It’s one of the reasons I was motivated to make this thread. To show that the amount of people who might defect to Trump isn’t that surprising and is relatively universal across candidates. Albeit, Bernie is the exception I’d say this time per the polling and is one reason why people still bitter from 2016 should calm the tensions over 2016 and move forward.

I'm also a Warren supporter

 

i think she has the best balance between getting more wealth redistribution and important services  to help tackle wealth inequality but without going to the point of chocking private sector investment too much (which is what I'm worried would happen with Bernie)

 

i will say tho that when it comes to military spending ideals and foreign policy, I prefer Bernie...

 

Warren would be near perfect in my books if she was more pro military cuts like Bernie
