I'm not saying he should have the same the same style in every movie. Obviously if he were to do a rom-com, he probably wouldn't choose to do it in this style. But you never know, it would be unique, which could be a good thing; it would definitely attract some people. But so far most of his movies have been similar, in the way that they have all been high budget action and/or sci-fi movies. And this particular styles just fits those kind of movies, so I see no reason for him not to keep it. If he changed his style with every movie, he wouldn't be considered an auteur. Not that that would necessarily be a bad thing. Now I don't think Tim Burton's career going downhill was due to his style. He simply haven't made a good movie in many years. Look at Quentin Tarantino for example, he has made 10 movies, all with the exact same style and he is as succesful as ever. I personally, as someone who aspires to become a filmmaker, believe that a filmmaker should make a movie in whatever way they want, regardless of plot and essence. There should be no limits to how someone makes art. There should be no rules. So if you want to let the movies plot dictate the style, you absolutely should.
