Because she was working for an organization with the mission statement of reducing inequality. This is clearly contradictory for that goal.

To continue a relationship with someone openly opposed to your goals is hypocritical.

JK says that this is about her stating that biological “sex is real.” No one is disputing that. Maya is denying that sociological gender exists and implies that non-binary and trans individuals do not deserve respect. She even has intentionally misgendered people to make a point.

This is a severe stain on Rowling’s record and should not be overlooked because she wrote an excellent book series.

Same here. She had always been someone who seemed to stand against oppression. I never thought I would see the day that she was on the wrong side of the aisle.

I saw her as inspirational, but I guess it shows that you should never put too much faith in your idols. They will probably disappoint you.
