I get that places in London are really really overpopulated, but there needs to be another way of dealing with the issue rather than racism and telling people who are foreign to "go home". The truth is, home is where you make it. By no means am I calling you a racist or hating immigrants btw, but I just feel that there has to be another way. Like, immigration has helped the UK massively.

And EU immigration is different to the immigration these people don't want to see. Most of these people have a hatred towards asian people and people that come from outside the EU. Which is why they voted for Brexit... even though immigration outside of the EU will still happen, maybe even more so 

Oh right  it's just that when somebody mentions ukip there's always fingers pointed at them to accuse them of being "racist".

me too

i'm seeing people post about only voting for Conservative just to get 'brexit done' - people are so uninformed and don't bother to actually read up on how that would affect them!

however, the majority of stuff i'm seeing on my social media is that people I know are voting for Labour

Voted for Labour, but my constituency (and city generally) is an absolute Labour stronghold, so I doubt my vote will make as much of a difference as some of yours can!

I’ve voted Labour, but I’d be very surprised if they win. I’m from the north east of England so they are a safe seat and have been for decades.
 

Who knows though. I would have never thought Leave would win and Trump to be president.

Each has stuff I agree and disagree with based on what I read at least anyway (obviously I'm not an expert on UK issues)

 

One I'm particularly questioning is the plan to freeze retirement reforms

 

I know ppl hate the idea of working longer but when birth rates are less than half of what they used to be and people are living like 20 years longer than when retirement was first established, I think it's a lot of pressure to swallow to not wanna do change

 

Here in Canada plans for reforms were also scrapped and there's pressures building on the system and the first baby boomers only just started retiring

 

I do support the idea of stranuous jobs being reviewed tho and possibly excluded from any increases like construction for example... If teachers can retire early something simmilar could be done in high physical demand jobs where even 65 is already hard as it is

Well the UK's life expectancy rate has been increasing by an average of around 1.5 extra years per decade. The state pension age however, has been increasing by around a year each year, which is clearly disproportionate.

I'm in my early twenties and I'd be grateful to not have to work until I'm 85 and thereafter live off a poor pension (which would likely be the case if the Tories continued).

Isn't the retirement age only 66 in UK? Isn't that a 1 year increase?

 

Anyway even if it went up faster than life expectancy lately recently I'd say that's catch up... Historically Countries pensions have not moved at all with life expectancy

 

I think 85 is a big reach.... Most Right Winged parties globally have only proposed increases to 67 or 68 from the standard 65

As I said, I'm in my early twenties and the age I will be able to retire is nowhere near being announced, it won't be for probably another 15/20 years, so there is every possibility that 85 is likely.

In relation to your last point, perhaps you don't fully understand how the UK's tax system works. We all pay a considerable percentage of our salaries in National Insurance, which is intended to fund our State Pensions (among other things). As such, I frankly couldn't care less if it's incredibly costly because we are and will be contributing to the pension pot until the point we receive one.

It's honestly come to my attention that ppl from all political sides will often vote for a few specific issues 

 

But yeah I don't get the movements the last few years of isolationism. Countries suddenly started going back on globalization instead of cooperation I don't get it

I don't see how it's reasonable for people to still have to work at 68, especially in manual jobs. 

It seems to me that the conservatives will continue to increase the pension age to encourage people to save more of their own money for retirement and eventually phase out pensions entirely. But how can people even save enough to do that when just living costs so much.
