Reforms have consequences and one of those in Germany is the increasing poverty rate. I have no interest in putting country policies against each other. Of course, the German Gini Index will give great numbers, it's an out of touch and institutionlized trading data tool. I'm trying to talk about how such numbers affect real people's lives. "at least we banned hitting our own children nearly two decades ago and not just one year ago." You are right and I'll always be first to criticize french policies, but this is not the subject. "We don't have miserable living conditions but if your economy is crap (like France) you'll have them soon yourself." We already have such conditions, that's exactly why we are striking for a year. The current french gouvernement is only acting for the few, not the many and it already showed. Of course if you stay in a privileged bubble, you might not be able to see it, but there are plenty of miserable people even in the wealthiest EU countries and I'll never stop fighting for them. I know exactly what these reforms mean. I was born right at the height of the recession in Germany December 1998 with my mother not having graduated yet (I elongated that process for another year) and my father being unemployed because he worked as construction worker and they don't have work during winter. I talked with both about that time very often and both were and still are very much for the severe cuts that were implemented back then. These reforms were the only chance to get the German economy back on track and without them the financial crisis of 2007 and the crisis since 2010 would've hit the eurozone much harder because Germany was the one stabilizing power during that time. Yes much more people have low income jobs but a lot of other people are now able to have a stable job and income. The state now focuses on helping the ones hurt during that time because that is what a state does. The french have such a gigantic overblown state with extremely rigid structures that need to simplified and cut. The amount of debt France has amassed is staggering and dangerous. The debt of France is 98,4% of its GDP which is poisonous for a state. Germany on the other hand is at a more healthy 61,9% while the UK is at 85,9%. France has a GDP over 1 trillion euro less than Germany yet has over 300 billion more in debt. You need to understand that France isn't able to live like that forever. I’m sorry to burst your bubble hun but the EU is a failed state. It’s the reason why illegal immigration, racism, rape, murder, hate crimes, Islamophobia and such things are at an all time high: The EU was invented by greed. In my opinion debt is an instrument of social control. It's easy to force people to do all kinds of things if you put them in debt first. Debt shouldn't be ours to fix or even bother in the first place.

I haven't read such an ignorant and ill-informed post in a long time. The EU was founded to protect peace in Europe and there hasn't been war between any of its members in the last 70 years which is already better than anything the US did in that time Yes the US has an illegal immigration problem while the EU largely had that under control since 2016. The US builds concentration camps along their border for refugees and Australia holds refugees either in prison camps or let's them drown in the ocean. Europe isn't perfect but we're actually trying to save people unlike most other parts of the world. Racism in the US is much worse with police brutality, hate crimes and incarceration of innocent POC. Australia, to this day might I add, can't stop bullying its native population and disrespects the Aborigines at any time possible.

The Bosnian genocide happened in 1994 on the doorsteps of the EU, and where was the EU on that issue? Pretty sure also that Europe is where both world wars started, and the Cold War. This is not even a competition: “Europe” has caused 95% of the worlds deaths in the last 100 years. Not to mention Western Imperialism setting the scene for the poverty in Africa and Asia. You need to stop believing in this false god called Europa.
Lucas 31,130
I will never understand why people go on strikes when that mostly affects citizens (the transport of people trying to go to work in this case) and not the government itself.. People have to do so... it is the only way. Before it used to work. But nowadays, journalists and governments try to put people against each others in order to make people feel annoyed by the strike. But the main thing is that it is not working at all outside of Paris. People support the movement everywhere except in Paris.
