- Females of minorities earn only 59% white male average

- Minority males earn 78% of white males

- white females earn 87% of white males (more than men of colour)

- 15% of white Canadians have investment capital gains income vs only 8% for immigrants or people of non-white background

The statistics gap shows that race and gender gaps remain a big issue in a Country that is supposed to be so accepting and progressive

 

This is especially considering race is an even bigger factor than gender with white females making more money than non-white males

I don't think it has anything to do with capitalism itself... It's societies attitudes and culture

 

The idea of Capitalism is simply free enterprise and limited government interference... That in itself doesn't make distinctions between ppl. It doesn't stop an employer from hiring women or an immigrant from being an entrepreneur and starting his or her own business

 

It's ppls prejudice and our culture that makes distinctions

 

I know in the case of women for example the majority of the gap can be explained thru child bearing because while the general income gap is 13%... For women who never have children it's less than 4% for example on that factor alone

 

The idea that it's supposed to be women taking time off and putting career on pause to take care of the child is an example of a social cultural aspect that affects this

I honestly think some of that gap when it comes to race also has to do with establishment too tho not just prejudice

 

If you move to a new Nation and have to start your life from scratch... You will have more roadblocks naturally than someone who grew up in a nation with parents to help them when they go to school etc

 

Children of immigrants who were born here do not have as big of an income gap as the 1st generation immigrants that moved here in adulthood (although I believe a slight  gap does still exist)

I plan on moving to Canada in the future, maybe in 5-7 years once I've qualified, once I've had a bit of experience in my job field and saved up here. Love your posts btw. My country is just too... unstable at the moment and too much of Canada (it's politics, it's beauty, it's laws) attracts me. I was reading up on applying for Canadian citizenship after being a permanent resident for a few years last night, just thinking about my future. Life is **** without goals lets be honest

Well it helps that we keep raising out immigration quota. It's supposed to be 330,000 next year I think 

 

Any particular part of the country?

 

Just so ur aware the housing crisis is making rents and home prices go to like rediculous costs especially in big cities like Toronto and Vancouver

Is the immigration increases in  Canada beneficial for the country?

Canada’s birth rate is too low to sustain economic growth and social program funding without immigration.  Without high immigration rates, the population would be shrinking, not growing.

Actually it would be shrinking after 2030 it wouldn't be shrinking yet

 

But ur right the birth rate isn't sustainable long term. That goes for like every developed nation tho

 

However if we did make some reasonable reforms in retirement to account for big life expectancy increases and ageing population we wouldn't need an immigration rates as high as what we have

 

These higher premiums and hard to accomodate population growth leading to this unafforability to me is so not worth it to try and prevent a couple years increase to retirement
