'its the opinion of one person'

Sorry but shes off the mark. What the pope says matters to Catholics which she is herself. its not just his opinion, its the opinion and doctrine of the church.

Not all Catholics have to 'obey' the Pope. He doesn't dictate their religion. The Bible does, and as far as I'm concerned that book is open for intepretation. The meaning of that book has changed over the centuries, so it's up to each believer to find the root/essence of it's message, and not to blatantly follow what one person has to say about it.

The world is finally realizing that the pope never mattered. You dont need an old man, dressed in royal silks, while children are starving and dying in the world to talk to God.

I do hope that Gays will be accepted and have the same rights as heteros-xuals some day. To be able to marry and adopt children, don't be afraid of losing a job because of s-xual orientation...and especially all these executions in other parts of the world.

Sadly, I don't believe I will ever see this day.

Well, it depends how you measure. For comparison, racism still exists, but look how much progress has been made in the last fifty years or so. I think s-xual orientation is well on the way to a similar transformation in society's view of it.

Just read This on tumblr:

you know in like 20 or 30 years or so theres gonna be a section in history books dedicated to this time period where gays were fighting for their right to marry and suffering from discrimination

and the kids learning about it in class are going to be disgusted by the mere fact that gays had to even try to fight for what was rightfully theirs

I Was Born This Way baby!!:unicorn:

She's totally right. So many people I know have left the church due to their anti gay stance. Most people support gay rights and the basic teachings of christianity but not the ridiculous **** that the church spits out.

Also, Christians have NO RIGHT to be against gay marriage. Marriage is a CIVIL joining of two people, it has nothing to do with religion at all. If the Pope doesn't like gay marriage then he shouldn't marry someone of the same s-x and he shouldn't deny two other people the right to do so.

This is true. I'm a catholic and I'm religious, but I can't follow the Pope's beliefs just because he's the head of an entire religion. Be religious =/= Believe everything the church says.

She is completely right. I'm roman catholic; but I find it completely ignorant to follow and believe every single word one man says.
