“Gaga’s impact” if anything it’s Britney’s :awkney::poot: but go awfff gurls

True of course but the sheer number of residencies announced since Gaga did it in such a short period of time is telling. And Gaga is relevant as ever with a #1 hit this year while she's doing her residency. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe Britney was relevant but not at a peak when she started hers.

I have my doubts. If this was being reported by People, Billboard, etc....maybe. But this source is iffy at best.

However, touring is really hard for celebrities (health wise, time wise, etc.) and with three small kids I can see why she might prefer a residency.  So I wouldn't be totally shocked if she did a residency.

Nah, it was Celine's impact. Maybe she doesn't have as much as an impact in the US, but Celine is still a huge name in most of the world (arguably more than Gaga, Brit, Bey, Taylor, etc.) and was even bigger when she decided to first do a residency.

actually celine dion  started the trend of making vegas residences cool  but okay:ohwell:

Actually if you wanna be precise it was Liberace and Sir Elton John before her but okay :ohwell:

What I meant was she repopulized it, residencies were looked upon as where you go when your career is over and you're not charting anymore just like Elton, Celine, Mariah and Britney did.

Now when you think about Gaga signing the deal when she wasn't back on top everybody was thinking that's it her career is over, ASIB revived her career, she pulled best Vegas numbers of all time and popularized residencies cause she flipped the coin and the way people look at them but yes Celine is still the most popular Vegas act there was.

Pretty sure Celine was still charting, tho—just not in the  US. But I mostly agree with your post in that Gaga was one of the main figures who helped make residencies popular again.

Edited: One of her albums was the best selling French album of all times and her tour in the late 00s was one of the highest grossing tours of all times.

She started the residency in 2003 and the only two countries she scored a top 5 in since then were Canada and France, which is not taking away from her legacy or anything because at that point she was already an established artist and a big name in the music industry. She agreed cause she wanted to have a family, which is completely understandable and she managed to do a fair share for making residencies popular, without her Gaga's or Britney's residencies wouldn't have such impact. But I really think Gaga brought it back to light and changed the game that it's not just for people who are done with their careers and are legacy artists,

But high key I would actually go to a Beyoncé residency. I’m still shook from the Formation World Tour.

What's your point?  Beyonce has nothing to do with Gaga's show.  This is a perfect example if how sh!t some of Gaga's "fans" are.  Enigma is a huge success. There's no denying that. It's sold out. Anyone who goes loves it and it's gaining her new fans. The critics loved it.  You HATE to see it just because you don't like the show or because you want her to release an album. I don't care how much Beyonce is paid. Y'all once again dismiss Gaga leading the way as usual by doing a residency when all you pussies said it would ruin her career, that acts go there when their career dies. Gaga went there at the peak of her career. She changed the game.

And records are meant to be broken. That's how the music business works. How about you quit whining about Enigma and go see your Beyonce show. Gaga won't mind. She's focused on her own career, unlike her "fans"

I think all of her French language albums, even the one from a few years ago, have gone diamond in France though and opened at the top of the charts? She doesn't really have that success in the US, but she's still massively big in French speaking countries. Like I remember when her residency was ending, there was some article about all the people from around the world (mostly French speaking countries) who went to Vegas just to see her perform.

But yeah, I agree that Gaga is probably the only star who is at her "peak" that did residencies.

During Britney’s residency from 2013-2017 no other big pop artists were doing them. In contrast while Gaga is still in the middle of doing her residency Bruno Mars, Cardi B and now Beyonce are all doing or planning to do one. It’s not about who did it first (we’d have to thank Celine or hell even the Rat Pack). It’s about impact.

Or we could just stop caring about who the top seller is :bradley:

Honestly I'd trade LG6's 3rd single for them to FINALLY perform Telephone together

I doubt it will ever happen, although I wish it would. Bey barely ever has guests at her shows, even when they feature on tracks. Neither does Gaga, tbh. And I feel like they'll probably perform their new songs plus their biggest hits...and I'm not sure Telephone is included in the latter.

I'd shell out money to see Bey in Vegas and so would a lot of people. It'd be a money maker.

I don't get why some of y'all have to turn everything into a competition though. Multiple stars helped revitalize residencies, you can't give credit to one star anyway.
