Defmix100 6,394
Actors shouldn't expect everything to roll in after a movie. There are breakthrough actors you think you will see for years then something happens and they just don't get the work you'd expect, look at Sam Worthington for example. Mena is in his 20's and landed a huge leading role in a sucessful movie by one of the biggest movie studios in the world, that's something most actors would dream of and never reach and for those that do it would be the peak of a lot of careers. weed 73,925
"had zero auditions" don't you... go to auditions? I understand if he expected tons of roles to come in, but Aladdin has 57% on Rotten Tomatoes lol. Sorry he's going through that.

I think in the case of Sam Worthington, there may be an element of sabotage from the Australian film industry executives. Years ago Sam fled to America to escape the dreary nature of the Australian film industry. Basically he called out that the industry is very narrow minded and sexist/racist and that most actors are typecast, many have to sleep around, and that Australia only makes the same type of film over and over again (films about how depressing suburban life is). That’s why he has never come back to Australia nor has he had much work outside of the Avatar films. Producers talk to producers and if one (or a whole country) doesn’t like you you’re kind of screwed.
Leozz 141
And to think that any mediocre white actor would be flooded with opportunities right now. Hollywood at its best.
TimisaMonster 31,073
Damn the struggle is the struggling actor is real but also maybe his acting needs work...yes he is a handsome guy but looks can only carry a movie so far... Daylight Jokers 14,958
He's cute but honestly, he didn't really prove himself as a good actor in Aladdin. He was stiff (except for the dancing/singing scenes) the entire time. He had the looks of Aladdin but his portrayal of the character was so bland. The sad reality is, POCs (especially Latinos/Asians/ Arabs) have to work ten times harder to be considered established actors in Hollywood.

S0436 10,215
Looking at his Wikipedia page he has an upcoming series on Hulu and a film voice over role. The article makes it sound like he is jobless and penniless.

elijahfan 26,305
If he indeed got 0 audition since Aladdin, he should draw his anger towards his agent. It's one thing not to get a role, but not getting auditions... Someone definitely isn't doing his or her job right.

Him being cute should be enough for him to get opportunities. It's Hollywood we're talking about - you could have the acting ability of a potato, as long as you look like a model, doors open. Hollywood is mainly about selling sex: if young girls and gays don't fantasize about the male lead, there's no financial point.
