I’m sorry but Katy? She hasn’t done anything interesting or successful for like half the decade. And I haven’t heard anyone mention Bruno Mars in years. Love Gaga but I’m fine admitting she wasn’t the most successful artist this decade.

I’m not a Taylor fan but I can still see that Taylor has had absolutely no point of irrelevancy throughout the entire decade and her entire career. She hasn’t had a single flop. There’s never been a time where she wasn’t talked about. Clearly one of these things is not like the others.

Ok I have to agree with the Katy part. My personal taste got in the way 

And while Im not a Bruno fan, he s also been pretty consistent with his hits and relevancy. I guess Taylor has more impact though. Such a shame Gaga faded for a while from ARTPOP to ASIB... I wanted her to get this kind of award so bad. But oh well, maybe next decade!

And yes Taylor deserves it if we are talking about hits and sales and that stuff. But to me, Gaga had WAY more relevancy and IMPACT than her this decade.

She's right about the decline. No one would look back at the 2010s and think Taylor's discography left a mark or anything. It was all about publicity stunts and commercial performance, which nobody will give a damn in a few years.

I'm in no way a Taylor fan but even I can't deny that she deserves this award for the simple reason that it's the American music awards and she's the most successful American artist between 2010-2019 without question. If it was an international award, I'd highly challenge it but Taylor has always SLAYED in America so this award is nothing if not factual. While not all her singles in the last decade became hits, basically all of them sold at least 1m copies each in America, 4 albums in a row had 1m opening weeks, her lowest selling album still sold a whopping 4.4 million copies in America alone, she has achieved 5 #1's in the US and 16 top tens this decade and has a combined total of over $757 million in touring money this decade. No other American artist comes close except Beyonce and she's got nothing on Taylor's hit-making abilities in the last decade. She started struggling for hits when Taylor had just started getting hits.

I don't agree with all the other awards she's had, though. But this one? This one's pretty much uncontested fact, if you choose to be completely unbiased. It's hard to find an artist who can still sell as much as she has and the fact she became more famous and successful internationally with time and had her first #1 and her biggest era several albums into her career is super impressive.

She has had flops, though. Her entire Speak Now album is basically forgotten to the sands of time now. Even in America, those songs have been all but forgotten, her numbers and viewing figures confirm this. There's a reason why her fans barely ever bring up that album because it's the one where she could have lost it all if she didn't change things up with Red afterwards. And LWYMMD was the only true hit from Reputation. Ready For It and Gorgeous may have gone top 10 but they dropped like stones immediately afterward. Her new singles failed to dethrone a one hit wonder and they're not resonating with the public either. It still doesn't take away the fact that her album and tour sales are outstanding and she deserves an American based award for all her success but to say she's never had a flop is rather inaccurate.
