They certainly put a bad taste about Yang in my mind but it was ultimately his policies I dislikes, especially when it came to immigration. 

If you consider a politician based on his supporters who he can't control, then I'm sorry for you. There are tons of nasty Gaga fans and people say the same about Gaga. Except that's more reasonable. Because Gaga isn't running for an important office.

It's not a few bad apples though.  Even here, people are afraid to post about other candidates.  I don't  see Bernie doing anything to address it, so no, I absolutely don't want to be a part of that revolution.  If there's going to be a revolution I want the base of that revolution to be better than that.

You're giving them too much credit, haha...

But also, TYT and independent progressive media are not really run by talking point generated politics, rather they react to them. There isn't an overlord that disseminates "make sure to bring up Pete Buttigieg's black vote or imperialist rhetoric" that is sent to every youtuber, news network, etc on the left. The format of these things is not conducive to that kind of thing. On TYT someone brings up their take on an issue with the facts/figures ahead of them, other people on the panel discuss it, agree/disagree and offer their perspective. Now, people may watch any combination of progressive media and accept those points as valid, but the way those points are created makes them a lot more natural than the alternative which strongly promotes acquiescence and uniformity of opinion. I could not watch any progressive media or read any and just get all my data from reuters, watching interviews, clips, etc. and I would certainly come up with the same opinions as these people - in fact that does happen often. I only really watch things like TYT if I want more specific sources, other perspectives on things I already believe, or I search out specific pundits who I know have different inflections of "progressive" to them so can make me consider other things.

People are legit "toxic" about Pete because his policy, message, and vibe inspire it

Yeah I know people who won a $1m in the lottery; that money went FAST when they put it towards paying the kids' college debt, and paying off their house. These days, $1m is really not all that much when you compare it to what it used to be worth.
