mmmmonster 137 Posted November 19, 2019 Share Posted November 19, 2019 If LG indeed got 3 noms, without considering BC's rumored 1 nom and what that might indicate, ideally I'd like them to be: best soundtrack, AOTY, and best pop solo for ARUTW. The general song categories are too crowded this year. Did the album/ARUTW deserve more? 100% yes. Did anyone promote anything other than Shallow (and only during Q1 of 2019)? Unfortunately, no. So honestly, with a vague understanding of the politics of this industry, 3 nominations aren't bad at all. I'm glad ARUTW is getting any recognition by the Recording Academy at all (IMO it is one of her best, if not THE best, ballads, and a far better song than Shallow) given the lack of promotion. I personally think not pushing ARUTW (assuming LG6 single isn't ready...) as a single after the awards season is one of the least sound decisions Interscope/her team had ever made in recent memory. To not ride on her post-Oscars success/popularity was a shame. If I'm to take the projection of BC's one nomination into account and guess that she only got one of the possible two album nods, I'd guess soundtrack. I mean, there is no bigger soundtrack than ASIB released over the past year (after all, it remains one of the biggest albums OVERALL released in the past year), even though it was released over a year ago. It's a shame that this might mean she isn't getting the AOTY nom, but given what I said above and the fact that it's released in Oct. 2018 and not in most voters' consciousness, I guess it is what it is. My guess for the 3rd nom would be best song written for visual media for INLA. On the upside, that might have a better shot at winning than ASIB winning AOTY, so it might not be a bad thing. Why not just use the number ‘1’ for everyone and not cause confusion? These may be her nominations tomorrow: - Best Soundtrack: ASIB - Pop Solo: ARUTW - Best Song Written for Visual Media: INLA. Bradley has 2 new nominations and Gaga 3, so she's missing either AOTY or Soundtrack! INLA is quite sure cause all the writers have earned a nomination (well, if this leak is true).
