Obama warns about going too far left

He can shut it. He’s the one who passed Obamacare which is almost identical to what Mitt Romney was going to do anyways, dared to act like the water in Flint was fine, and helped build the military industrial complex (even more than Bush!!) which is now hurting our domestic policy development. Obviously he’s going to say **** like this.

REALITY

I am a very liberal person; however, I find all of these recent "attacks" on Obama and Biden irritating.

Look, I don't particularly like Joe Biden in the 2020 race. I'm not vehemently against him like some are, but he definitely isn't even my top 5 for the primaries.

What I find fascinating, and actually very hypocritical is that people trying to "call out" Obama and Biden didn't happen 5 years ago by liberals and by the left. People were always like "Oh my gosh! We love Obama! We love Biden!", now all of a sudden it's "Biden is the worst candidate ever!", "Obama was an awful president!", etc...from people coming in our own party? That just doesn't make sense to me.

Again, this is coming from someone who would much rather have someone like Warren or Sanders in office. Y'all need to be consistent with your critcism because from an outsider's perspective this is  going "too far left".

I'm going to need them to send out a mass alert to the whole world where they simply play Born This Way and Come To Mama.

All the worlds problems...solved.

Racism? Gone!

Hunger? We fed.

LG6? Who?

Obama is far left, what he calls the far left are the true moderates whos policy are supported by the majority of Americans including Trump supporters and republicans. Even recently a new poll shows that the majority of people who supported Trump in 2016 and wont vote for him are now supporting progressives.

What is THIS hunny...

Yeah no more political threads on this site for a minute.

Exactly...people are Insane to degrade him like they are in this comment section. It’s exactly what he’s saying. Being too far right is bad and so is being too far left. Those offended are simple minded and need to think long term but nope they’ll just go on social media and bash him because it’s 2019.

People were saying the same thing the last time "Going too far left would be a crazy bet so think twice idiots and don't be too tough with moderate liberals!" then HRC who was a moderate liberal became the candidate and lost.

The thing is folks agree more and more with solutions that are "too far left" according to the polls so acting like if progressives were these extremists that scare many people doesn't make sense anymore.

"Because it's 2019"? You say it like if it was about a trend when it's a real opinion change happening... Despise them all you want but they actually bash him cause they consider they have reasons to do so. Are you sure the "simple minded" here is you for not seing these major changes lol?

Someone brought up the difference between liberals and leftists. It can get complicated because of how we use the terms today in American politics but I found a couple of articles that sort of break it down, for anyone who's interested:

Progressive future is the solution to our world.

See Chile, they're voting on April if they WRITE a new Constitution. That's what liberalism and facism did to that country. From being #1 in most of aspects and services to implode. People will get tired.

The world moves faster every minute that goes by: thinking a way of life empowering individual rights will end in destruction.

Wrong side of history.

Someone should have warned HIM against going too neoliberal. Democrats lost the house, the senate, and the presidency under his watch.

This is super disappointing. He's very subtlety hinting at who he supports if you read between the lines.

He's really become part of the establishment and essentially only speaks to big dollar Democratic donors at this point.

To think this is what he's become when considering how he started out, even praising Bernie way back in 2006.

Huge disappointment. I'll always be grateful for what he did for the LGBTQ community during his presidency and he'll always be my president and the best one during our lives, but I don't agree with him at all in this or most any other of his positions these days. Nothing but a sell out who is very out of touch and apparently is okay with the current system when it is not working for the vast majority of us Americans...

Obama is far left, but people to the left of him are moderates? :laughga: I swear some of the people on this website either don't think while they're typing, or aren't actually humans. For real I wouldn't be surprised if you were an operative.

Im saying the views and policy of people like Sanders for example is more accepted and popular with the majority of Americans including republicans and Trump supporters unlike the policies of "moderates". This is why I see progressives as the true moderates as their policy is more popular and accepted by everyone.

To me, far left socialism is what Obama is. He did take the poor's money and giving it to the 1% and wall street and allowed them to screw the American people life and houses. That is far left socialism only for the rich. People like Obama believes in far left socialism but only for the rich.

I dont care how stupid you think I am, and I dont use personal attacks as an argument.

Obama used to be a true progressive which is why people supported and loved him in the past. After he became president, it took people a while to realize it was all a lie.

Obama not a saint? *gasp*

We've been knew. Progressives called him out during his administration too, y'all just called them crazy, now that there's more of a consensus to an extent, its open season though I guess.

Obama killed his own potential for change by entrenching himself with corporate interests in banking, oil, health care, etc. It's that simple. He took it further and tried to approach working with the Republicans by capitulating on policy after policy, as if making his "change" platform more moderate would make the wealthy donor class any more likely to like his ideas. He did that and now he is going around and disparage people for vowing to not make the same mistakes he did as being too far left :rip:The fact that he's denigrating activists as well, as if his campaign wasn't won with activism;  people thought he had no chance in hell on the ground as a black person against Hillary Clinton. is honestly disgusting. The idea of him winning at all was "too radical" for many people at the beginning of his campaign, and people worked dutifully all over the country because they believed he was the "Change" candidate. That wasn't just donor money, he ran on this vision of leftism.

The idea that anything Sanders or Warren are proposing anything "too far left" or "radical" when these things are possible and reality all over the world in other developed countries is a LIE. Don't believe it from any one who tells you this, especially anyone who has a vested interest in maintaining status quo politics. Democrats have made the political calculation that they are okay with losing if they can remain a donor funded party that poisons this country with incrementalism and moves further and further away from their roots as the party of the working class. That should tell you all you need to know about this kind of statement.
