Why isn't composing music or being a good singer considered talent anymore?

"[Britney] had the root idea for “Everytime (on her album In the Zone), and I could really tell that her heart was in it. I knew what my mission was. I could see the picture. She believed in the song, and I had to find a way to present it that was true to the simple emotion of it. It was a joy to do...At the time, Britney had started to play the piano a bit, and she could certainly play well enough to spell out the root chords. She’d show me what she had, and I would say, “Well, here’s how we could fill this out.” We both knew where it needed to go, so I could color it in after she’d sung the main vocal. I love it when I get the vocal very early on, and I’m free to experiment with arrangement ideas while always hearing that final vocal. I love it when it can happen that way, though not every time is like that.."

-Blackout Producer Kara Dioguardi

As producer of 2004 worldwide hit 'Everytime' Guy Sigworth substantiates about the artist in question's above claims that she got on the piano  "wrote the whole [melody/riff] from scratch on the piano": "She had the root idea for “Everytime” (on her album In the Zone)...At the time, Britney had started to play the piano a bit, and she could certainly play well enough to spell out the root chords. She’d show me what she had..."

And as talented singer-songwriter record producer, Kara DioGuardi, who produced 2 out of 12 tracks of the standard edition of the acclaimed 2007 album Blackout-or 16.7%- said: "People don’t realize what a good singer [Britney] is, and she has the incredible ability to put herself in the music and it elevates the song, because she really brings her own vibe to it."

Yet when this rhetoric from two talented, established music industry veterans was posted in a similar thread recently, many posters didn't consider what Guy Sigworth and Kara Dioguardi identified as talent, talent.

Why?

As the title of the post thread asks, why isn't composing music or being a good singer considered talent anymore?

What changed?

The industry got cheaper, greedier and more money seeking. Now every single celebrity/influencer/content creator wants to make a song just to make that extra $

The Bling

Britney Spears has always been very underappreciated :selena:

You see, there's this belief that people are only talented when you see them playing musical instruments, so now in the current scene when those are mostly missing there's this belief that people now have no talent

This is why Joanna Newsom got #22 in the best of the 2000s list.

Most of you guys are just too stuck up to appreciate someone that actually writes great music :bradley:

I mean, those are considered talents, it's just that Britney's not considered to be very good at either of those :lolly:

It's a joke! When you give me that look, it's a joke!

How does this statement relate to either  composing a worldwide hit or talented musicians considering her to be very good at either of those?

How is the original post trying to upgrading anyone?  A worldwide hit was composed in 2004, according to a music industry veteran.

And it takes talent to be deemed a 'good singer', according to a music industry veteran.

What has britney composed in recent years?

According to Britney in 2011: "I don't really have anything to prove."

It's hard to argue with this statement...

According to evidence, she has sung live,  composed a global hit, released two of the best produced albums of the 21st Century and has given generation-making performances.

Yeah yeah yeah... she done all of that at the start of her career...

Now? She can't sing so she never sings live, she can't compose or write any of her music anymore, her dancing isn't exactly super stellar, and her shows are gimmicky and especially her last Vegas residency really played into the sex appeal. She is talentless imo...

You can't use what she done 15+ years ago as evidence when she has done nothing in the modern times

Literally nobody said it wasn't talent anymore, it's just that she hasn't been doing this for over a decade, really. Nobody is saying that Gaga isn't talented because they know she does this, you're just pressed

She came with the root idea for everytime and played some chords lol, she did not write that song. Also, we all know she can’t sing anymore. She was a mediocre singer before and now she’s a terrible one. She also hired someone to sing in her place for her album AND put her name on songs she did not even write.

She wrote 7 songs from her last album Glory:

Invitation, Make Me, Private Show, Just Like Me, What You Need, Better, and Coupure Electrique.

Im not saying Britney is a fantastic writer, but she’s not awful either, and she does write music and she does have involvement in her music. People love to discredit her and say she’s just a product but she actually does do sh*t.
She’s a better writer than Ariana at least, yet rarely anyone comes for her on that. I mean, Thank U Next, boyfriend and 7 Rings have some of the cringiest  lyrics ever.
