While Netflix has a ton of content, the amount of original content that's just plain trash is crazy. Their quantity over quality approach really was a terrible idea. But I'm excited that they have people like Ryan Murphy, David Weiss and Beinoff and Shonda Rhimes creating new content for them. Hopefully that sends them in a new direction.

I get Hulu on a Spotify+Hulu student plan which I only pay $5 monthly for :huntyga: I only use it to watch shows that are on air because it has the episodes the day after

With Prime, they have a OVERBUDGET everything approach. Literally all of their original content has wayy too high of a budget but always with such poor writing and execution. Literally the new LOTR series will cost $1 BILLION dollars :cryga: Amazon spares no expense.

I'm excited for Apple TV+ because I think the writing and quality of the shows will be superior. Apple always attempts to appeal to people of more refined tastes with their marketing and content and with the lineup of shows to be released this Friday (The Morning Show, SEE, For All Mankind) it seems as if they're coming with the QUALITY.

For now though, I'll stick with Netflix until HBO Max launches and I explore their content. Their original shows seem to be the most quality.

Wait, so Hulu does have episode of new shows the day after?! maybe in Costa Rica it's different??

Wow Amazon is really spending too much lol but I was disappointed with Prime tbh, there's this offer now that you can pay $3 for 6 months, I'll give it a try once again.

I'm kinda not so excited for the Apple TV+ because if I want to watch on tv but I need the Apple TV and as an ex worker of Apple in their store in Israel (well it's not officially Apple but a premium retailer) I must say that the Apple TV is pretty disappointing and not worth it.

But so far only Netflix worth it.

Hulu not so much, the library is not that big from what I remember

And I got 1 month Prime for free but I had to pay anyway for many things?!?!?!?

hulu used to be kind of bad but it’s actually pretty good these days

amazon prime video doesn’t include everything they have on amazon

I don't really feel like I need to buy more than 1 or 2 of those services at a time. I only have 1 set of eyeballs lol.

Yeah I don’t really understand the point of this figure. It would be unrealistic to have every streaming platform in the first place, there is no way to consume that much media on a monthly basis even if it was on nonstop 24/7

What can I find in Hulu for example except for their originals?

I see, I wanted to rewatch How I Met Your Mother but I had to pay for it for example.. so it's not really worth it if their library is limited and you need to pay for the good stuff.. there's no real purpose right?

This is definitely a service only for the US as its US shows and they generally want to track ratings in the US first. Episodes of most shows are there 2 am the morning after the show airs. If you're outside of the US, Hulu really isn't worth it. Can you believe a HULU ORIGINAL SHOW (their TOP SHOW), the Handmaids Tale isn't available in most markets outside the US? Ridiculous

I would say their library is actually pretty strong these days! Like the entire How I Met Your Mother is there

Same here, and I don't even USE Hulu except when I'm really really bored. No way in hell I'd pay for it, especially not the commercial free one.

exactly :huntyga: totally not worth it. I went months without opening it ever once :selena:

This is why I never got into streaming.

Some shows are on one platform and then other programs on a different platform.

And let me not get into the fact that shows get taken off at random times.

I will continue to buy DVD's and watch shows I want, whenever I want.

I see, this is why I didn't see a lot on content! pretty weird tbh they could make a lot of money like Netflix.

Netflix it's not perfect outside of the US but at least they are adding new content.

I'll check somehow if it's available in Costa Rica

I spend so much on all these services. I have Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Spotify, Apple Music...

It's really terrible. I need to switch my Hulu so it is included with my Spotify Premium...it only works 25% of the time, so I really shouldn't be paying for it.

I want to see about HBO max and AppleTV+...

The sad thing is that I physically OWN all of the Blu-Rays for the shows I am watching on streaming platforms. :bradley:

It's annoying how splintered everything is with all these companies trying to get their own piece of the pie. I miss the days of just Netflix and Hulu (and back when Hulu had the  Criterion Collection). I think the most superfluous one is CBS All Access - its extra tragic because it seems like there's great concepts, interesting writers, and notable stars, but its like nobody is watching those series. They  might as well be streaming into the ether. It reminds me of those random original shows on Crackle,  or when facebook tried to get into creating original content (poor Catherine Zeta Jones wasted her time on something no one ever saw). Apple and HBO Max seem as equally pointless as CBS All Access IMO, but I guess we'll have to wait & see.

I subscribe to Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime, in addition to Scribd (ebooks). That's enough for me, and I barely even use them.  Subscribing to yet another service would be such a waste.

Yup. At some point, the market is going to become oversaturated – then what?

I only have Netflix and Amazon Prime (and I have Prime for the shipping, so the additional content is sort of a bonus for me), and as it is I don't have enough time to watch that much content on either. It would be pointless for me to add Hulu, CBS All Access, Apple TV, HBO Max, Disney Plus (or whatever it's called), and God knows what else is out there, since I wouldn't be able to enjoy all of the offerings.

I'd love to see some of the shows that are specific to these services, such as The Handmaid's Tale and Jordan Peele's Twilight Zone reboot, but paying all that money just isn't worth it to me. (However, I'm going to concede and sign up for one free month of Hulu when Little Fires Everywhere comes out, as that's one of my favorite books, but that's very much an exception.)
