Economy 52,861 Posted October 30, 2019 Share Posted October 30, 2019 https://www.bnnbloomberg.ca/alberta-tables-climate-plan-for-industry-retains-parts-of-old-legislation-1.1339606 The Province of Alberta (Canadas largest greenhouse emitter) has introduced new sets of regulations aimed at significant carbon emission reductions from the Oil Industry possibly by 32 Megatones by end of next decade Each Oil project as well as a company as a whole will be assessed for emissions then given targets accordinly. On the first year companies must find ways to reduce emissions by 10% followed by a minimum of 1% every year after that. Companies that fail to meet the targets will be levied a $30 per tone Carbon fee In order to encourage companies to reduce emissions by more than just the minimum targets, companies that ecceed the targets will be rewarded by being able to sell Carbon credits to companies that do not meet the targets Money collected from the Carbon fees will be put towards a Green development and research fund Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
