It's not about the quality of the song or the promotion. Have you had a look at the top 100? 95% of it is trash and the other 5% are evergreens. People just aren't here for Katy or just don't care. Happens all the time. in 2013/14 it wouldn't have mattered what Gaga had released. Gaga has always had a strong fanbase and cult following whereas Katy was always more of a GP-Radio person. Gaga shaped the late 2000s and early 2010s so much that people now feel nostalgic for her. Kind of like what happened to Britney. She was everybody's darling in the late 1990s. Then it became cool to hate her, but then everybody loved her again, because she reminded them of all the iconic pop culture moments she gave us. Katy Perry was just always... there. And now the GP has moved on the Rap, Trap.

i was your 10.000th reaction. all praise the potato

This is actually really sad... I love HIH and I can't believe that it's tanking this hard.... Like she is Katy perry she used to be sure I'm off #1s... What happened and will she ever recover because this could be the fall that destroys the career

I've got an "F" and a "C" and I got a "K" too And the only thing that is missing is a bitch like "U"

Very sad, considering this is one of the best songs she's released in a while. This shouldn't be happening to such a radio friendly song, there's a serious public disconnect now that's making me wonder if she can ever fully recover. Looks like the only thing that might make her stand a chance is a full-on acoustic reinvention because if straight-forward pop like 365, Never Really Over, Small Talk and Harleys In Hawaii can't smash, it proves that the public have had it with her pop style and so there's no point continuing to push it. They say the definition of madness is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting different results each time. It's evident Katy has reached this point in her career so the wisest thing would be to try something new or be responsible for the end of her career making her usual style.

I still think - ok y'all are going to drag the **** out of me for what I'm saying - that her previous MEGA success was forced and fake. It was full of payola on several platforms.

It's impossible to think the GP complitely erased a woman who has 9 #1 thanks to them. Impossible.

"real" katy numbers and power are the ones she did with witness.

Plus 5 top 10's, over 6.6 million albums sales and hundreds of millions in tour sales. And that's just American figures. But yeah, you have to wonder if it was just because she was aggressively foisted on the public back then and they fell for the hype but actually weren't feeling it? And only realise now when she's no longer being forced on us? I mean, there's so many songs I liked years ago that I don't like now and it makes you wonder how easily led we are when the media want us to like something. I remember when she was at her peak that people were reporting that Firework was being played on radio several times consecutively in a single day.

So, yeah, maybe Witness figures are a reflection of how many true fans she actually has, as in, when she doesn't have the public on her side. AP and Joanne were the albums where Gaga was relying on nothing but the fans and even they were more successful eras than Witness because she had that fan connection that Katy has been sorely lacking because her music has always been made for radio and wasn't personal or different enough to connect with a fanbase for life. Yet, she keeps growing in subscribers on the daily and is over 35 million strong, similar numbers to Taylor and Ariana, yet she pulls in nowhere near their amount of views, likes and sales these days. HIH has pulled in a mere 10 million views in 10 days. Small Talk has only pulled in 21 million views in just under 2 months. Again, this is a woman who has 35 million subscribers. Therefore, she should be getting 35 million and more within the first couple of days. Artists who have much lesser subscribers and have never had massive hit singles, like Lana Del Rey and Melanie Martinez have had their new work outperform hers from a YouTube standpoint. And we're meant to believe there's no label trickery behind the scenes here making Katy look bigger than she actually is? The sudden views and likes for Bon Appetit came right out of nowhere a few months ago and the reason for its sudden upsurge in popularity has never been explained.

TRILL MONSTER

I just think its her own fault....all her albums in the past years have blended into each other and her image has been constantly the same

she needs a reinvention from what she always does
