i am disgusted at how the left vote is sliced in various parties whereas the right vote is in 1 party ugh

I guess because the Green and NDP are kind of simmilar only that the Green goes even further in left ideas especially for environment but most of their ideas are the same with the Greens simply going further

NDP wants to raise Corporate taxes by 3% while Green want a 6% hike

Both NDP and Greens solution to housing crisis is to building a bunch of houses to which i believe the Greens have an even higher target number

Both NDP and Green party are against Oil pipelines

They get votes split cuz they are so simmilar. Their ideas are usually the same, only the Green suggest a more radical version of the same change

But the 2 Right Wing parties we have are different. The Peoples Party of Canada is more like the Libertarian party in the US with the phylosophy of minimal government interaction in peoples lives so they cant be free to mostly do what they want while taking Capitalism to an extreme

For example both the Liberals and the Conservatives are happy with the Current 15% Corporate tax rate. The Populist party want a 5% drop to 10% basically cutting it by a third

Theres also many social programs the conservatives only want cut while the Populist party doesnt want to have at all period

The Populist party is very extreme in their ideas so im not surprised few support them and that bodes well for Conservatives because they are the only average Right Wing Party so no one to split cotes with

I already voted Liberal in the advance polls and convinced my entire family to do the same! That should give him a boost! :poot:

I havent been a huge fan of Trudeau tbh but i hate the alternatives more so...

At least Trudeau and the Liberals im almost neutral with... The Conservatives would be my second choice but definitely not the NDP or Green party

and the Bloc Quebecois and Peoples party, we dont even need to go there, but theyd never get elected anyway :emma:

@River so did the methology seem sound enough?

Their weighting is pretty bad I must say, because they are just doing a simple average calculation for the 3 factors, but it's more than that, there are many quotas for each poll and some can be different, depends on what the poll agency needed.. also there's no weight or quota about the last elections, which is the most important and also each poll can have a different kind of method.. so it's a big mix..

But it is interesting result, yes, but unlikely to be accurate.

This! Social rights are not societies only concerns

the economy like in much of the developed world hasnt been working for the middle class for some time and stagnant wages that arent keeping up with cost of living is affecting a lot of people

theres also the housing crisis (all 3 major parties have different ideas of how to tackle it)

Also theres climate change

theres lots of issues that are still relevant. Politics isnt just about Gay and minority rights u know :air:

Edit: As for who cares about Canada were the 10th largest economy in the world, the 13th biggest military spender and we hold large reserves of most natural resources the world needs

And we produce many big celebrities :selena:

Were not the US or China but were not irrelevant either :emma:

Thanks for the detailed response. I didn't really mean it in a mean way when I said who really cares about Canada. Millions of citizens in India go there and settle lol so... Hopefully y'all select someone wisely.

I would argue that polls done differently have advantages and disadvantages to eachother and averaging out their margin of error should actually enhance accuracy not make it worse

but in any case its a tight race. Who knows whats gonna happen. Seems pretty clear we are not getting a majority Government which sucks. It means elections again in probably less than 2 years :neyde:

Feels like its a matter of supporting the least bad option tbh :air:

the NDP and Green Party go too far in their Left Wing Policies in my opinion and would be really bad for business investment here and have some agressive plans they have an unrealistic plan for. For example the NDP have a plan to build 500,000 affordable housing units for a $3 Billion price tag... thats only $2,000 a house and they havent explained exactly how they would manage that or how the program would work

The Conservatives i sometimes support here in Canada but this time around other than their income tax cut proposal for income under $47,000 to 13.75% from 15% and public transit tax credits, they also propose stuff that i think is wasteful

They wanna give a tax credit for organized sports. Dont get me wrong thats a nice thing for families but i dont think that should be a priority when theres families living pay check to paycheck struggling to pay rent and putting food on the table. If a family cant afford to spend $2000 a year on sports id say thats not a priority

Their plans to remove taxes from hydro will not help global warming by making electric consumption cheaper. Theres plenty of other stuff u can target to make life more affordable for everyone

And some of the Conservatives plans to help with housing affordability crisis like extending max amortizations to 30 years and allowing more RSP withdrawals for downpayments or the removal of the stress test will only heat up the market further

That leaves only Trudeau with the Liberals. While i dont like his policy of deficits that the Conservatives had nearly eliminated, the deficits are still small (below 1% of GDP) and he has the least problematic ideas. I dont love the guy but he seems like the least one this time around

It's such a big giant mess, there's no good candidate and no good proposals and solutions, everything is stuck, Canada is going to be stuck for a year or two until the government will fall apart, which will happen for sure, I don't think they'll go to elections after this.. it's bad for the economy and they like their hot chairs.

Something is so strange happening now, even in Israel, after the 2nd elections, they can't form a government so far, it's like there's a clash between the right-wing and the center-wing.. while the left-wing is slowly dying..

Are u from Israel?

and it seems to go thru phases. When ppl see left wing not working they want right wing and when they see right wing not working they say its time for a change

making a Government and policy work is a lot more complicated than just Left Vs Right. Its also about HOW they execute their strategy

its not like one system is perfect and the other one trash. Both have pros and cons

i believe the best is trying to get the bits that work from both ejds of the political spectrum rather than trying to focus on going all the way in either side

For example is more taxation and spending good or bad? It takes money from private sector but gives more money for government to use on programs

whether the good is greater than the cob also depends how the government spends that money and whether the investments made more beneficial impact than what the private sector could of done with it. If its poorly spent the the left wing higher raxes werent worth it

its also about planning and execution not just whether its left or right

thats why i dont automatically support the same party every time. Depends on what their plans are at the time

Yeah but I live in Costa Rica now :)

It's like they follow the most populist ideas, usually the right-wing, while knowing that it's a bad idea, but then when the bad things actually happening, they vote for the left.

It's still pretty stigmatic to vote for the left, crazy.

I think most people don't even understand how taxes works, they just vote for the one that gives them more..

Somehow they never really teach you a bit of economy in school, how things are working, what is a tax.. so what happens that many voters just don't really vote with a good knowledge, but with what sounds the best and it's wrong..

I wish they weren't on the televised debates, there's no seats outside of Quebec for BQ, and Peoples is formed by a crybaby Conservative. But anyways. The debates are done.

As for the race itself, I honestly have no idea what way it will go. I have a good idea of what my district will be voting for, but federally? Phew.

Scheer is never getting my vote, especially with his platforms, his attacks, and his friendship with Doug Ford. The party isn't entirely bad, but boy, I don't like their leader.

I fell down the stairs once as an actor.
