love how you exposed your level of ignorance/racism by sarcastically calling it "cataclysm" and purposely saying "Taiwan" when the op clearly states "Vietnam" :awkney:

The ao dai itself was heavily influenced by Western fashion, especially 1960s fashion. Sorry Vietnamese expats living in the West. You don’t get to complain about cross-cultural effects when you yourself as immigrants are a living embodiment of it.

Yeah that really isn't cool or funny to label Vietnam as Taiwan. Would you label the US as Canada? No. You're basically calling it Taiwan because you don't think they're significant countries, which is highly ignorant.

It is offensive, but popstars are usually known for provocation and controversy acts,

Can we talk about Alejandro and whole Madonna vs Christ thing?

And yeah,  all cultures and religions were and will be challenged no matter if someone likes that or not

Gurl it ain’t about me. Don’t make it about me.

Using the same logic, any time an Asian wears jeans it is cultural appropriation.

Don’t try to be edgy :vegas:

Jeans have no special significance in western culture. There is a difference between country’s traditional clothing, which actually means something and whatever you wear daily to throw out trash. If your country doesn’t have such thing, you won’t understand.

Gurl, you’re ignorance is showing. Jeans have no significance in Western culture? Really? Your idea of a country’s traditional clothing is very limited. The world has been a global community for thousands of years. Today, everyone wears pants, but 3,000 years ago only Persian tribes wore pants. Ponchos used to only be worn in the Andes. In the 60s and 70s they started to be worn by hippies. Same as the sari, which used to be worn by (mostly) men in Bali and South Asia, but today is worn by yoga instructors the world over.

Clothes are not copyright. Fashion has ZERO borders. What is local one day can become global the next. It’s been happening for thousands of years. Stop acting virtuous when really you lack an understanding of history and trade.

Cultural appropriation is more about western countries appropriating things from less economically developed countries.

Majority of western countries are economically developed and have a lot of power. If a Western wears something from another country for example, it has the ability to hit the media because of the control the west has over the media. An eastern country doesn't have that same power. For example - look at the way India is depicted. Slums and all poor people begging for food. That isn't the case in the whole of India and is a huge stereotype. But because the west portray it like that, most people think of India in that way. Do you understand my point?

Even if you're not a minority or from a line of non-western immigrants, you should still try to understand.

Yes really lol. Irony of you talking about ignorance. All that rambling and you didn’t write what is the significance of ****ing jeans? Is it a sacred cowboy attire? :ladyhaha:
