BgRaEgTaT 1,543
Consider me a casual listener. I thoroughly enjoyed Turn Off the Lights Vol 1 and vol 2 is growing on me. I also like a few of her other songs, yet I feel like I shouldn’t fully support her or share my enjoyment of her music with others solely because of Dr. Luke. How do those of you who are fans of hers deal with this? What are the arguments for and against her and why does she continue to work with Dr. Luke even with the constant internet backlash? PrettyLilMonster 361
Honestly, I understand where you come from and as a “woke consumer” I also struggle with those issues a lot (Michael Jackson, Melanie Martinez, Kim Petras). But what I can say is that almost everything else you consume is produced by some kind of factory or supported by organizations that do no good either. I wouldn’t know where to draw the line either. Nikolai Barrow 1,337
It sucks money goes to Dr. Luke but on the other hand anytime we listen to any of Katy's old music or Kesha or a lot of artists of that time money goes to him. I think in the end it's probably more important to support a trans artist. But I do struggle with the same thing you do. It is morally confusing. Nightwing 518
I can't be worried about stuff like this, unless the actual artist in question is a monster like R. Kelly. Feeling bad about affiliations, in my opinion, is taking it a little too far. Because I'm sure a lot of our favorite artists are, ultimately, affiliated with not so great people; and by supporting them, you're still supporting those very same people. The music industry is a tightly woven fabric.
FlopSlurper 34,336
You're allowed to do whatever you want. I personally refuse to listen to anyone that works with/supports dr luke. Ethics place higher to me than cheap pop

Katy and Kesha's biggest hits are produced by him if you can listen to them why not? :)
